In football the praise is as knee-jerk as the criticism.

Sure, a good start but some comments are over the top. He has beat Huddersfield (H), Newcastle (A) and Swansea (H) and got a point at Liverpool.

For sure, but I think there's evidence of a little more energy and focus on the field that we should be positive about. Nobody would have expected our recent points return a few weeks ago, regardless of the quality of the opposition

He said himself we were too negative on the ball - it clearly wasn't a tactic.

People have to understand this.

I saw Ped on ToffeeTV say the set-up was negative. It wasn't, it was logical, albeit I'd have liked to have seen Davies in from the start.

Our play was too slow and ponderous, but it wasn't a tactic to go out and be that way.

The build-up for the goal vs N'Castle and the 3rd goal last night are both superb passing moves. Patient but incisive.

It'll come, and it is in bits and pieces.

yer seen the interview mate and I know he obviously doesn't want us to be that negative, but I disagree about we weren't set up negative

we was, we again had 2 holding midfielders at home against the worst team in the league, the game changed when davies come on, someone who actually gets on the ball deep and looks forward for a pass not backwards

I don't dislike morgan as much as others do on here I think he;s a good player, but there was just no need for him to play yesterday

*At a Liverpool who have only won 4 of 9 home games in the PL this year, 2 less than an Everton side who were ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN to get relegated until we brought big Sam in to save our souls.

*At a Liverpool side the majority of the fanbase expected to spank us but never.

Let's just be quite pleased with the point we got and stop being so ridiculously dismissive of anything good we do. Strange, strange fans.

We always expect them to spank us though, it's part of being an Everton fan not a logical conclusion based on how good they are a side. There's nothing 'ridiculously dismissive' about saying getting a point away at a side that has failed to win more than half it's home games isn't necessarily an incredible achievement. I think Allardyce has done everything that could reasonably have been asked of him so far, and he deserves credit for that. I also think that the credit should be proportionate, and it is wise to wait and see how we fare over a longer period before we start proclaiming him as the answer to our prayers like some are.

The amount of young players that are regularly used by Sam is surprising and pleasing.
Holgate, Kenny and DCL have played nearly every minute. Tom Davies has seen a lot of football as well and both Vlasic and Lookman are also being used.

I thought he might revert to older more experienced players to get us out of trouble but it augurs well for the young lads presently at the club but also players like Williams, Dowell, Connolly and Browning who seem to be doing very well at their respective loan clubs.

Oh I agree I certainly don't think people should be calling him the messiah I just feel the Liverpool point really was stellar work considering how long he'd had with the players and just how bad we've been before then. Imagine that game under Koeman/Unsworth?

????????????????

No. Barkley yes, Coleman yes. The end. Baines is finished, McCarthy is chob, Funes Mori horrendous, Yannick not even he knows how he will come back (and the fanbase was very split on him before).... genuinely who else is there, I'm not sure.

Is Baines better than Martina? Yes. McCarthy better than Sneiderfraud? Yes. Funes Mori better than Williams? Yes. Bolasie better than watching Siggurdson tool on the left? Yes.

Getting results was the first agenda mate , the football will come sooner now , the players look more confident and happier !!

Erm, well no, it isn’t.

The object of the game is to win. Same as any other sport. Entertainment/fans are a byproduct.

I love sexy football as much as the next man, but I’ll take us winning ugly over a valiant defeat every time.
Each to there own but I’d rather see us have a go then just lump it forward and play the percentages.

Go watch another team then you masochist.
That’s not very nice.

the one thing I will give him credit for is he has got some organisation from our woeful defence, he's got Williams playing like a footballer not a dinosaur, Kenny and Holgate have gone up another level

but I mean he's hardly worked miracles we've beaten some awful teams and got very lucky at times ( 99 times out of 100 we lose that derby and people slate the performance, we got lucky against Newcastle, could have gone either way that game )

he's still far to negative for me, that first half yesterday was absolutely painful, we let the worst team in the league attack us at home and never threatened at all

should be judged at the end of the season

They attacked us and then noticeably tired and we punished them. That's smart management for me.

I see a lot of people saying we have been lucky. I would say you make your own luck and he seems to have installed a bit of self belief in the squad which leads to heads not dropping, fighting for everything and getting a bit of luck from it. A lot of the game is mental.
