Can you not see why he played a back 5 also. He does his homework on teams strengths and we knew West Brom would be throwing crosses in and woe and behold they did. Good call by Alladyce in his attempt to set up that way. Yes we are disappointing with the ball and going forward as we have been even before he came. If he doesn't get the balance right come the end of the season then we will all be wanting him out. Currently he has stopped us getting smashed all over the place and rewarded us with 12 points from 6 games with very few conceded. Not pretty but much needed and he now has the chance to add his own players in January........then we can criticise if we are still playing the same style. At the moment BFS gets my full thanks for getting us out the sh1t and being only 3 points short of our previous 14 games points tally.

Utter rubbish, and shows the negativity that has been thrown at us. He played 6 at the back against a team that hasn’t won a game in 18 attempts

His 6, because Morgan was playing very deep, was designed to stop a very poor West Brom team. And it almost failed, which is the most ironic thing. If Rondon wasn’t an absolute donkey he would have buried 2.

You take the game to teams like West Brom, not invite pressure. You can actually be strong at the back with a threat going forward you know. Instead he created such a void that DCL was chasing shadows

It took us 80 mins to register a shot on target, that is abysmal and absolutely disgusting

In his defence, he has always been in charge of average to poor football clubs. He has always bemoaned the fact that the big jobs went to foreign coaches and now he has been given his chance to show he can handle one of the giants. He is proving a lot of people wrong.

I don't think he is proving a lot of people wrong, he's doing exactly what everyone expected.

He is doing exactly what it said on the tin, positive and negative.

5 at the back it was. Alladyce is trying to keep the defensive solidity whilst searching for the midfield balance (keeping the sodding ball). Do you honestly believe if we went at West Brom that they wouldn't of sat back and exposed our weak midfield and higher up defence like many teams have this season. We are the team that is attempting to draw teams onto us and we play the counter attack but that is not working very well. At least we are not conceding 4 or 5 any more. I suppose we are doing right by getting 12 points from 6 games defending compared to 15 points from 14 games from attacking. Depends what you want. The open play did not work as we have a poor attack and left exposed so I guess the best we can do is what we are doing now and getting points and conceding less. Football is dire but what's new this season except more points. Give him his time to work on the style but just be glad that the points are still coming in.

Yeah I guess so, apart from so many clean sheets, some of them purely down to luck, but thats football.

For people to start judging him now, with the mess he inherited is nothing short of cringeworthy and kind of shows a lack of understanding of football in general.

He has done what he needed to do, sorted the defence out which was an absolute shambles. What people should actually sit up and applaud is that he has done it with the same players that were part of that shambles.

He has been open enough and told us that DCL needs a rest and is carrying a lot of the weight for a lad so young and inexperienced, and he has also hinted what we all really know, that being Niasse isn't of the quality we need to push on.

Let's get a couple of strikers in, some of the better players back in the side and maybe then would be a good time to judge him, instead of some of this painful to read tantrum stuff that is being put forward.

You mean the international midfielders we have at our disposal can’t keep hold of a ball?? The very basics of football as somehow abandoned our professional footballers??

Nothing to do with the fact that his setup is all about shape, thus limiting our freedom. And his second tactical master plan is to get the ball into the opponents half as quick as possible, which translates to hoofing

Yes, they have Chris Brunt and Salomon Rondon. I firmly believe that these to geniuses could have easily been marked whilst we attempted to trouble Ben Foster

No we are not. We are team that is setup to clear their lines quickly, and pick up the second balls in and around the opponents final third. And then look to build from there, there’s nothing counter attacking about it

And any half decent manager would have sorted that issue out. God knows what happened to Koeman but he lost it, massively.

It was not a choice between Fat Sam and relegation

Can't be bothered answering all that garbage. I am just a simple man who is very happy to be getting points and not getting hammered.
Relegation was on the cards unless we changed our style and now it seems to have disappeared. I am fairly happy with the points tally and foundation layed. We go from there and BFS has more than earned his chance to get his players in Jan to get us more balanced. Koeman failed, Unsworth failed, Alladyce has succeeded to improve the points and quell the goals against column. Told you I was a simple man.

Allardyce has done a very good job stabilizing us and though I'm disturbed at playing 5 at the back against West Brom, I can fault very little of his performance so far.

The best thing he has done is polarize GOT into 2 extreme camps imo. Normally a new manager will have majority backing initially which will ebb and flow with results. Big Sam has come in here and made a clean cut right down the middle. The future of EFC is dull and functional, the future of GOT is v bright indeed

The results have been outstanding - the performances have been dire.

I'm sorry to say that it will be a very argumentative new year. Best wishes anyway.

Due to the protracted and amateur farce the manager search turned into, it is looking more and more like he was the best of a bad bunch that was interested in the job. None of us know this for fact, but it seems to be the case.

In hindsight, I am quite relieved we did not get Silva, he was far more of a gamble than Sam.

Who knows, maybe the target we really wanted will be available in summer, so I until then will get behind the current manager who actually doing a decent job thus far.

Just seen his post match interview. Talks total sense, very honest and realistic and that for me is such a refreshing change to the last two managers we have had.

I sort of can understand people moaning if they are bored watching the team. But it’s a results game, end of.

Burnley are having the season of their lives and we are now 6 points off them and close to being back to where we were last season after a completely horrific start.

Bit of perspective needed I think.

It is indeed a results game.

But people don't go to watch the result - they go to watch the game.

And that’s the problem, fans got themselves into a mess thinking it was Fat Sam or relegation. And it wasn’t, we were not in the back end of March.

Unsworth should have been given one or two games whilst an appointment was being finalised. The dithering of the board got us into this mess by letting an incompetent “Unsy” take charge for so many games.

I hope he gets canned in the summer before he’s given actual money to spend. The thought of returning to Walter Smith style football is frightening
