The most annoying thing about him is he's brought the expectations down imo in an attempt to present the job he does as above average. He's continually bemoaned our lack of an attack but he's barely changed it around since he's been here. We've barely seen Lookman and throwing Vlasic into the United game as his first appearance in a while then making him go 90 when he clearly couldn't.

I shudder everytime I see him and sl in our gear.

Dyche has been there many years and has got them relegated. The players have been hand picked and spent time at the club, fitting into the style of play...I guess you want to play that way now? Because you cant judge Allardyce negatively on points when he's done well with no left back and no forward...lets see how he does in the next 2 months...not just the next 2 games.

I'm also not sure whats wrong with being impressed with his 2pts per game prior to losing against a WBA side whove done well at home and nearly beat united....and man united themselves.
Good post, it was the mighty Bournemouth we lost too though, not the mighty WBA :D

It's hard for Bolasie to provide end product in a team that often commits 0-1 players into the opposition box. This is something Everton have done for far too long.

He is rusty but Bolasie showed some good signs yesterday and will go from strength to strength imo.
The number of times in the first half Niasse was standing on the left where Bolasie wanted to attack and had to amble to the area, Bolassie put in a few good crosses unfortunately our centre forward wasn't where he should have been.

Absolutely.

It was mind boggling from Niasse who usually knows his role us to stick upfront.

It bounced off him 9/10 times though this game. Felt DCL should have started, or at least been brought on to play alongside Niasse rather than the like for like switch when we're chasing the game.

Absolutely agree my friend, but when we were starting to get results and coming off the back of our first away win in yonks (newcastle) - I didn't expect us to change that winning formula. At least not to the degree that he did change it, as obviously we did have games coming thick and fast. Perhaps one or two players switched in would have made more sense.

I never expected us to just go to Brom and win for instance, and we always seen to have mad games vs Bournemouth - but I agree with fans suggesting we went too defensive in those scenarios.

Can't argue with you here. For me, i'm just happy that he has eased any major worries we had for the time being and I think it's only fair to give him a chance to show what he can do after the transfer window and when we have players back from injury.

Long term I don't see him as someone who can take us where we need to be but prepared to get behind him this season. I have defended him loads since he's arrived and I was perfectly happy with the Chelsea 0-0, despite a lack of attacking intent but I am prepared to criticise his approach more recently. I think he was unnecessarily cautious against a poor Bournemouth side and don't think the McCarthy sub for Rooney was right yesterday either (although McCarthy actually played well).

Completely agree with the whole post and I've had similar thoughts.

West Brom haven't won a game in 18 mate, how exactly have they been doing well?

and you must be getting confused, we drew against West Brom mate, we lost away at Bournemouth, another team whose home ground is a veritable fortress lol

Just pointing out btw, Unsworths five league games in charge compared to Allardyces - Unsworth 7 points in 5 games, Allardyce currently - 5 points from the last 5 games, we lose away at Spurs which you'd say is almost nailed on - then that record for him drops down to 2 points from the last 5 games in charge.

Not starting to have any slight doubts about your early wave of optimism yet Zat?

Same people screaming we where getting relegated because of two wins two losses and a draw under Unsworth are now the same apologists defending Allardyce for 1 win 2 draws and 2 losses in the last 5 games. Likely soon to be 3 losses 2 draws in the last 5 after the Spurs game away.

We parked the bus at West Brom and got a sneaked a draw

How’s the CL form going

Pre job - Fat Sam tells everyone in the world that Everton’s troubles can easily be coached and it’s a case of “return to basics”

Now - Fat Sam tells everyone he now needs money to solve the problems

We were 100% relegation fodder though.

And don't be picky! with Sam in charge it's been 2 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses in the league - not.including the fact he would have somewhat influenced the west ham win also and got our first win in Europe lol.

That's all within the space of a month too.

Here is the problem with the system, Pickford often - and presumably to instructions is kicking it long usually to the left wing side, Bolasie due to Martina playing is often when we get possession back with the keeper - almost in that left back spot, so Niasse is drifting into that area expecting the punt up field, when it doesn't come he is out of position if Bolasie gets it and starts bombing forward.

Ultimately a lot of our isses come from playing two players trying to make up for the fact we don't have a left back above league two standard, that means we are VERY predictable where our threat comes from as one side of the field is basically not a threat with Martina on that side, throw in a slow central midifeld which rarely supports attacks, and a team that is by design sitting very deep and it compounds that problem.

To be fair, our entire defence is borderline league two standard haha. Which ultimately supports the whole post.

In another light, Sam took a good while to get ticking at other clubs - but ultimately did the business.

At Everton the bounce actually came straight off the bat, and whilst the sparks may be dimming, there is still plenty of room for things to improve.
