We have a lot of work to do, to catch up and compete with the top six imo.All those clubs are still a fair bit ahead of us.Im confident though that we can overhaul Burnley, and finish 7th, which unfortunately is our glass ceiling for the time being.

Overturning 7 points with just 16 games is a big ask mind. I fully expect us to drop points in the next 3 fixtures unless Tosun hits the ground running/ we can get Walcott and a LB in asap.

Also need to hope Holgate doesnt get banned as Keane is injured.

Martinez used to go toe to toe a lot of the time. Didn't end well for the most part against the top side's and eventually died on his sword.

And he produced arguably some of the best football this club has seen for a decade.

Martinez just didn't twig that defending can be a beautiful phenomenal thing too. And absolutely nothing to be ashamed of in certain circumstances. Ask Jose of Old Trafford.

Entirely possible, but until most of the prem stop thinking of a one or two goal defeat as a good result against city we'll not be able to guage it effectively. Someone will catch them on the hop this season, I can feel it! (They'll still win the league by miles and at least one other pot)

Not really. You're as likely to draw or smash and grab.

Sam Allardyce believes Everton’s willingness to pay £20m for Theo Walcott is a further indication he will remain manager next season and possibly beyond his 18-month contract.

The Everton manager confirmed interest in the Arsenal winger on Friday, with the club in advanced talks to beat Walcott’s former employers Southampton to his signature. Everton have signed Turkey’s Cenk Tosun this month for an initial £21m. The former Besiktas forward could make his debut against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday.

Everton’s heavy spending follows their record transfer outlay last summer when £140m was invested in seven additions to the first-team squad with poor results. Allardyce, who signed a short-term contract to succeed the sacked Ronald Koeman, believes the hierarchy’s financial commitment to his January aims is evidence he has a long-term future at the club.

Asked whether Everton’s spending strengthened his conviction he would be the manager next season, Allardyce replied: “Yes. In my opinion I came here on a short-term contract because it suited us both, which doesn’t mean to say it won’t be a long-term tender because a contract for me doesn’t matter that much.

“If it was a longer contract it would still have the same pay-off. If it were four years it wouldn’t have a four-year pay-off, it would have a short one. I’m happy with a short pay-off because both sides need to know where they are going. If I’m not satisfied with them, I want to leave and if they’re not satisfied with me, they want me to leave. The equation is quite simple then because at my time of life I want that relationship with a football club.

Why are we genuinely giving him money to spend?
If the new manager has any sense then he'll bin walcott in the summer.

We need a striker. £25m isn’t much these days. An Walcott @ 20m is a snip. Stop wetting your knickers, I’m a Allardyce hater too but there isn’t a huge risk here la

I wouldn't even begin to start trying to read too much into his tenure length by signings. We spent serious dough under Koeman - look where that ended.

hello buddy. we have met before i believe. therefore u will be aware of my work. i would like to be professional about this and wish for u to identify yourself at once. it does not have to be the other way.

Big Sam is here to initially stabilise our club and that, I feel is all. However, If he can take us forward, further than many think, in the long run, great!
Totally agree with a few posters in that this is his biggest job ever and (if he fails especially) his last. He is managing the biggest club he has ever been involved with, has a decent squad, who were, and still are to some extent, hugely underperforming, an amazing selection of young and promising talent.....he will sink badly or swim strongly. His start has been good imo. We haven't looked like world bearers and some of the football has indeed been dour. How easy we all forget what was happening to our beloved and wonderful club 2 months ago!!!!

Give him a chance let's evaluate at the end of the season! What have we got to seriously lose between now and then?

With a few players back Tosun and potentially Walcott on the horizon youngsters improving......

Stop getting on the back of a man that, ( like it or not) our board chose. U might not enjoy it but at least support our Everton manager for the next 3-4 months and see what he does.
If you are a true Evertonian, what matters most to you is our club! Sometimes we have to accept decisions and results we don't like and they upset us because we love our club like we love our family's. Yes I know it's that deep.
Constantly moaning about the manager, the board, the transfers (even when the likes of Tosun and Walcott are probably far more than any of us should really expect in our current state), is only harming the current ethos.

Support your team, support the blues, support every aspect of EFC, at least until the end of the season when we can all judge! Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.
