Article on attacking style in the PL.

You'll find all the teams likely to win things at the top of the list. Keep scrolling and right at the very bottom you'll find us.

I don't mind pragmatic football - I really enjoyed the teams Moyes put together - but we are heading badly in the wrong direction*

*in terms of building into a team for winning stuff rather than winning points in the short term

The top 6 are so far ahead of the rest now IMO. Much more so than ever before. It’s leading to more and more negative and defensive set ups from opposition managers.

Consider this - in the first 3 season’s of Opta stats (early nineties), only 1 Prem game was played where a team had more than 70% possession.

This season alone, there have been 38.

It’s becoming attack versus defence, and it’s dreary viewing.

Finances. Simple.

Or you go toe to toe with a City and get smashed hoping for a pat on the back for playing "the right way"the

All down IMO to the dooming prospect of relegation.

Why do people automatically think if you go toe to toe then you'll get smashed?
Bristol city didn't get smashed... Majority of the time, the teams sitting back have been smashed. Loads been smashed goals wise but loads got smashed for 90mins and got a draw/2-1 loss which won't benefit them whatsoever

I want my team to go up and have a go against teams, if they put 100% in and the fans do, I go home happy and it was money well spent.
I dont wanna see my team be like cowards for 90mins and concede late on or get a 0-0 draw

Bristol City did OK. Man City are a bit like Mike Tyson was at the height of his career, they're beating teams before they get in the ring (so to speak). Teams might do better if they took it to them a bit more.

Fonseca has done well when played city twice this season, beat them once and gave them a great game that pep said they are the best team they have played this season.

It’s all about having a go at these big boys now, I think fans would appreciate it if we had a go.

In the second Derby of the season, ou last game we did have more of a go, now the inital job Sam had to do, get us into the top half of the season, and we have just got a new striker, can see us attacking more now

This particular fan would and no mistake.

Bound to happen....once in the 30+ games they've played over 4 different competitions this season.

And it happens in a one off cup games. Magic of the FA cup and all that jazz.

Martinez used to go toe to toe a lot of the time. Didn't end well for the most part against the top side's and eventually died on his sword.

And he produced arguably some of the best football this club has seen for a decade.

Entirely possible, but until most of the prem stop thinking of a one or two goal defeat as a good result against city we'll not be able to guage it effectively. Someone will catch them on the hop this season, I can feel it! (They'll still win the league by miles and at least one other pot)

Give bfs a chance....

Let's see what he can do....

Much too early to judge....

It would be great if he got it right and had us playing suoerb football mate. I'm not a fan of his and inevitably I believe he'll be punted sooner rather than later but I can't be arsed with chopping and changing managers so for his sake I hope he has a real good go from tomorrow until the end of the season.

He's got the biggest job of his club career, got some dollar to spend and a semi decent squad ( albeit unbalanced and in need of work ) so it's his chance to show what he can do. If we are solid to beat, aggressive in the tackle and marry that to some creative fluent football everyone will get on board his gravy train.
