He plays the same formation as Koeman did and the same players out of position.

That formation does not work with the players we have got.

Unfortunatley we do not have many other options with the state of our defence.

Its perm any 3/4 from 4/5. And Cuco cannot play left back or left wing back.

Coleman is still not back and far from match fit, so Kenny stays.

That leaves Williams, Holgate, Keane and Jags as centre halves. 2 over 30's and 1 whose 21.

Football is a confidence game and the way we are going we are slowly ruining Kenny and Holgate.

Been saying similar the past few weeks mate. We desperately need a change of fortune and to unearth a gem of a manager like Southampton got with Pochettino. Easier said than done, but it's made easier if you discount completely never has beens like Allardyce and (in the last decade or so) Koeman.

We have some good kids coming through and the ability to pay fees and wages makes us attractive, so the man in the dugout will have the materials to do the job.
You still never mention the worst of the bunch, Martinez...

I still think that especially with Walsh in situ, that Allardyce will be here for next season barring catastrophe.

If a better option becomes available, then we take whoever that is (and I know many people will say anyone) but we have to be very very careful next time out.

There is a strong sense that Allardyce was/is doomed to fail here anyway, so for the club and the rest of us to invest all of our dreams in the next great white hope, and be let down again, that would be shattering. We would begin to look more like Leeds/Villa.

So who is it then? Fonseca? Do we give him a go? Chris Wilder? ???? If Tuchel was unlikely in November, he is even less likely now. It's not a case of throwing money around, if only it were that simple.

One thing though - if and when our PL status is assured the club need to act very quickly and tell us what they plan to do regarding Allardyce - we can't be into June and July with that uncertainty. So that means we will be.

I appreciate that he is limited mate, but the formation he picks doesn’t take into account the players he’s got at his disposal.

He needs to pick the formation and tactics to get the best out of what he’s got, not persevere with the one the previous manager used and proved to be a failure.

If you as a player saw Allardyce get appointed and become the manager, yeah - you may like with any permanent manager appointment buck your ideas up for a few weeks, then reality is you'd start slacking again knowing you have a at best short term manager in charge, and one whom the fans already mainly hate

What this squad needs is a young manager whose decisions on the squad are fully backed and one who the players know will win any battle between them and him

On top of that, if we are to go with a DoF setup the entire senior management organisation needs to rebuilt with specific outline on how we wish to play which is then fed down to the u23 and lower.

The transition of managers and kids into the setup needs to be seamless; at present it seems to be a free for all.

In all honesty I’d go to Tuchel now and build next season around his philosophy, firstly getting shut of Walsh of getting an experienced DoF to get things prepared for this

That ^^^ is pure fantasy world stuff. The notion that Allardyce is a man capable of building a side to play successful football is farcical.

Yes, he's using other manager's players, but the first team is talented and we can play way better than this muck. He just isn't capable of it.

It was Moshiri's call and he has let us down again with a panic move that will dog us until we reverse it.

I'm staggered by your view on Allardyce. We're never a fit for the eking out points brand of football he's known for. It's an unfolding disaster.

It's just the way I see it.

The players we have can't string a pass together. Hide from the ball. Can't press. Can't tackle. Can't create chances. The only thing they're good at it defending as a unit.

We need to admit that players like Barkley and Lukaku kept this team punching higher than it could. We've removed them and you can see how down right awful the team is.

I don't buy that Sam is an unfolding disaster at all. It's pure scaremongering because a vast majority didn't want him. I wouldn't be upset him going but equally I'm not going to actively force him out because compared to Koeman he's had less time and it's not his side. To me its pure Barcode and Hammers-like fan fury which usually ends up in tears due to delusion over the status of the club.

Now, if he were to go it'd have to be a proven manager and not a Silva or Fonseca (who wouldn't come anyway imo).

But saying that, Ive been a fan of Flores and Howe for a while (pre Koeman) so if that happened, I wouldn't protest.

Walsh and Allardyce need binning in the summer along with a load of the players.

Bring in an experienced DOF who likes a high pressing, possession based team, and i’d Happily have someone like Eddie Howe working under him.

A long term, coherent strategy from top to bottom.

Eddie Howe will not move north again.

If something is not right then it's not right. You can see with your own eyes how poor we are as a football team. It's no use saying it's all the players fault. The last game before he took charge underlined we can close down and then get on the ball and make things happen.

He's a disastrous appointment and he'll hang on until he's sacked. Moshiri has to pull that lever after the end of the season and the new man has to be done and dusted.

Interesting statement Dave, talented? How does that marry with your opinion of Martina, Jags, Baines, Williams, Schneids, Niase, Bolasie, just to name a few, talented? So when you say first team who do you mean exactly?

I couldn't think of anything worse than starting next season with Allardyce. We might as well not even bother.

Allardyce will give the team an identity alright. It's just one it's going to cost even more money to get rid of.

It would be more of a unit to build from than Koeman left IMO.

Ha Ha Ha.

A golden age for football compared to the tat of what went before and since.
This season is just a car crash.
The quality of the squad rather than improving, isgetting worse. Still have some relegation worries, but we should be ok.
Big summer coming up, both management wise and player wise.

That West Ham game was pure make or break against a side in a similar predicament that could've easily went the wrong way. Was a must win where Rooney turned up (which he tends to do in bigger games). An absolute one off IMO. Unsworth had set us up pretty similar in an attacking sense in the previous games and we got slaughtered.

The manager isn't 100% blameless of course. But I've always said, the squad is what it is and maybe the odd one or two games, won't get better until it's gutted.

Whether it's Sam or someone else, it's up to the board.
