Coleman did more to completely change the way the team reacts and attack more than sam can do in his entire time with us. Without Coleman we will be toothless again and nothing sam can do to change anything about it.

I thought he was the right appointment at the time. We were a mess at Southampton. He has come in and steadied the ship. We are not conceding for fun. He has brought in 3 players that will improve all over the pitch. I will wait until the season is over and make a judgement on if he should stay or go. I want to see how we play and results

Moshiri now has a big decision to make or 2. Stick or shift Sam and Walsh. He has time now to make a decision on the future of the playing side and he is learning the hard way on the job. Moshiri can either decide to stick for another season with Sam or can now actively seek out another manager. Whether that be Silva or someone else. I personally think this decision will give us a big insight into how ambitious Moshiri is.

If you were Lookman wouldn't you insist on going to Leipzig too instead of some Championship team like Derby?? Leipzig would rip us to shreds right now and they see enough in Lookman that they want to take him even if only for a half a season on loan. His development will be infinitely better at Leipzig than at Derby, yet his manager would prefer for him to get lumps kicked out of him in the lower leagues instead. Great. Perhaps the reports of his homesickness are downright lies too if he's insisting on going to eastern Germany??

I take your point re players not fitting in and Klaasen, but he has not been given a chance at all. The only games I recall seeing him in were in the darkest Koeman days where he was chucked into a team bereft of confidence and playing terribly, with the crowd groaning at every mistake. In one game at Goodison I remember he was playing the best I had seen him (Lyon I think) despite a shaky first ten minutes and Koeman still hooked him off, not helping his confidence at all. The loan might have done him good personally, but I don't see how uprooting him into yet another football culture and country would have helped him be better for Everton.

Good post.....but surely you can see SAms point(did anyone actually mention Derby?) ...it will be difficult for Lookman to get much game time at Leipzig, and this will not contribute positively to his well being. He was getting the game time at Everton that the manager thought he merited,he is a young player and a section of our fans have hyped him well beyond his current capability, bacause its exciting to see players dribble and go past defenders....its the same over hype that some fans gave Geri(although I like Geri as a player). Apart from a few exciting moments against the RS, when quite frankly we were clutching at straws looking for something positive, there is not much else to suggest that Lookman deserves a starting place at present, and like everyone else, he needed to earn game time.
One thing does concern me. There have been stories of Lookman being homesick and living a lonely life in a hotel. This should surely not be allowed to happen at Everton, unless the player is a loner preferring his own company. The club should be looking after the kid to the extent of making sure he has club colleagues see him on a regular basis and integrating him into the team ethic. We are Everton...we are supposed to be good at this. I wonder if its another failing falling at the door of the Director of Football?

He is by all accounts an intelligent kid which might mean he prefers his own company since most footballers are , let’s be honest, thick as bricks. Well the English ones anyway, the foreign lads tend to be brighter, most of em have command of (gasp) at least two languages. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons he chose Leipzig over sodding Derby.

For anyone who thinks that Sam is now the special one, it was Coleman who dragged the team through yesterday.

For 20 minutes the team was flat the crowd the same, you could have heard a pin drop, Leicester hit the woodwork and it could have gone horribly wrong again for the fat buffoon, we scored against the run of play, Coleman lifted the atmosphere with his darting runs and couple of crunching tackles.

Yes we did play much better in the 2nd half and should have won comfortably, however Sam was very late changing things and he is not the answer, once the last game is finished give him his bonus for keeping us up and get shut.

Yes but who started him? Against the wishes of the majority of us 'know it all' Evertonians.

To address the points in order:

The Derby link was sent to me last night by a Forest mate glad that he didn't go there and is in the Echo and in the Derby Telegraph today - https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sp.../lookman-everton-derby-county-leipzig-1150101

I take your point about his opportunities being potentially more limited at Leipzig, but their youth system really is absolutely top notch and they have one of the youngest teams in Europe. I do genuinely believe he will learn more there, but you are correct that it would be less than desirable if he only gets cameos off the bench there. Even then though, I can't help feeling exposure to another culture, another (let's face it, far more advanced) tactical regime and a new league, will all help him mature and broaden his outlook in a positive way. I wish far more English players would go abroad, including our own youngsters out on loan, rather than sending them to Sunderland or wherever.

It is not unreasonable to suggest some of our fans, possibly me included, have overhyped him or expected to much. I do disagree though with your derby point as he was the driving force behind our goal, probably our best team goal of the season at that (not saying much I know). He also played very well against the Cypriots even if it was a dead rubber, and frankly we've been two one paced against many teams this season meaning his pace and trickery, even if slightly one dimensional themselves, have given us another option at times.

Where did you hear these homesick stories? I had not seen them but it would be a shame if true and I completely agree with your point that the club should do more. I remember an interview, I think in The Times, with him, Tom, Dom, Jonjo and Kieran at the start of the season and they appeared to all get on well together. If he is on his own you'd hope the club would encourage him to move in somewhere next to the other lads or even with them.

I think it was a loan to Derby(?) that was a big move forward in the career of Leon Osman...he came back as almost a complete ,decent footballer, despite his small frame. Cue all the pathetic Osman haters calling names now, I suppose.......
