Fantastic post this.

Like you say he done a decent job under constraints but ultimately he was an integral part of the circle of mediocrity. No pressure to win anything and in return no pressure put on the suits above.

and it served Moyes well to push that line at every single opportunity, effectively it landed him one of the top 3 jobs in football off the back off never winning anything or finishing higher than 4th place with a team in his entire career...
 

It's a myth. He doesn't improve defenders whatsoever. He simply throws a line of deep lying midfielders a few metres ahead of them for a spell.

One thing you can't criticise Moyes for is that he coached defenders well. We've watched them improve in front of our eyes. This fella? Pick a defender from his last 4 jobs who has improved?
None. Which was kinda my point although I could have but it better. Its a myth as you say.

We haven't been sound defensively since Moyes left. Keane could with some of his coaching.
