Transfer Rumour Sami Khedira

Only Carlo will truly know what the squad needs. Maybe he sees a team of absolute cowards wilting whenever opportunity presents itself and thinks that they could do with an old head who has done it all before. On paper it’s not what I’d go for as I believe we need pace and power in there but a bit like the Olsen signing if he comes in and we start getting better performances from Allan Doucoure and Davies because of the competition then it’s nothing but a good thing.

I’ve got a funny feeling that we may also sell Delph in the window, recoup an FFP profit and Khedira may essentially cover his squad role.

I could see Delph potentially on loan but would need to get fit.

That being said, there's every chance Carlo likes Delph more than most of us do. He seems to want experience on the pitch.

As for Khedira, a bit like Barry before him, and probably James, the lads best is miles ahead of any in our team. He's a better footballer than Barry, but Barry of 2013/14 would have been a big upgrade on most of our midfielders.

Rather than we need pace, I think it's more a case of we need Richarlinson to start firing.

I think everyone in club is aware that his best days are behind him but he is still 500% better player then most of ours midfielders ( exulted Allan) , we need those kind of player so we can slowly change are DNA and singing him in the future it will be easier to get more top players , it’s a project, this is why he is offered only 18 months contract , on the other side the question is what he is looking for , I am afraid that he is seeking for longer contract and probably he can get that from clubs like Arsenal

It's a no brainer on a short deal imo even with his injury problems, Rather bring him on than someone like Davies or Gomes depending which version of Gomes it is.

I think Delph wants first team football and even when he’s got he knows he’s not getting it here. Any sort of decent fee covers his book value and gets his wages off the books giving us more room to manoeuvre around the regulations. There were rumours of Burnely being interested and with their new investment maybe they’ll make an offer too good to turn down.

Ive no doubt Khedira would be class on the ball but I can’t see a competitive midfield three that includes him and James. If we went into a derby with that midfield we’d be run off the pitch. In my opinion every player in the team has to be quick with the exception of James at number 10 as his quality is too big to ignore. We can carry one slow player but if we add more than that then the gaps start to open up and we can’t retrieve the ball off the opposition as we saw in the first 20 minutes of the cup game against United when we could barely get a sniff.

Would love to see Delph in the dressing room with his big bollocks act of when the likes of khedira and hamez are around. Stupid little peanut head
Well he did it with a better city squad around him so can’t see why he wouldn’t do it with those 2 around

We definitely need something else in the forward line though, to help get the best out of Rich (by stopping teams doubling up) and also just give us some tactical flexibility. Dom is also, clearly, run into the ground at the moment, as was obvious he would be when we let Kean go and didn't get anyone else in.

It really, really annoyed me what the recruitment/management team did at the end of the last window.

Deciding that, in this season of all seasons, it was a good idea to have your rotation option for up front also be your first choice wide left player (who then went and got suspended, but could just as easily picked up an injury or contracted covid) was simply baffling and reflects very badly on the people who made the call.
