I spotted yesterday someone tried to play an intelligent through ball and it got cut out, And he was warming up on the touch line clapping and shouting encouragement. Seems to be a great influence to have around the club.

That's what's surprised me. We all knew he was a top player but he is also an exemplary professional.

Cannot find a fault with him.

Stunning signing and all but he was pretty poor against Sunderland so let's not go overboard. His best work seems to be off the bench, though in saying that he was obviously awesome against Burnley. I'm not sure behind the striker is the best position for him because he seems to get in Rom's way oddily enough. I'd love to see him up top alongside Rom with Ross behind them

Now you mention it, there was a distinct lack of chanting/singing on Saturday.
There were a few near me in the Main Stand who tried to get things going, but you kinda expect the Main Stand to join in on the back of the Street End, not the other way round.
I was speaking to my brother at half time about the mechanics behind a good atmosphere. We both agreed Saturday was a strange one.

Obviously there is the usually contributing factors of: competition; importance of match; the opposition; our and their current form; time of day.

Now it wasn't going to be a complete spectacle, but people seemed happy to be back to league football after what felt a long break.

Yet, the atmosphere was dreadful. It was palatable even before kick off with the mediocre cheers for when the line up was announced.

Strange one really and as you mentioned, if the Street End aren't vocal then the place can seem like a morgue.

Was piss poor first half but 2nd half the ball stuck to him like glue and we looked potent on the counter. That little back heel when he had 4 players on him was pure class.

If I was an U21 striker and they wanted me out on loan I would say thanks but no thanks, I will learn all I need to know by watching this legend in training day in and day out and then on a weekend.

Exactly - and end of the second half were he killed the game with an "injury" - so much professionalism from him. Incredible player

The whole side seemed off it in the first half, Martinez defo said the right things at HT because we looked a different side
