Get to play striker in Serie A in the sun... or sit on the bench in damp England to come on for 20 minutes on the wing...

Hard choice.

the general consensus from newspapers is that martinez is more than willing to let him go, points in that direction i think

Just a shame. never have another eto'o at the club and the lads experience could have been vital in the europa

If Eto'o wants out why would we keep him against his will? Martinez has already said last season its pointless forcing players to stay if they want out and he's hardly been pivotal so far has he?

Besides the Burnley game he's only showed the odd flash of quality here or there, he'll hardly be missed to be honest. It may even provide us with wriggle room to bring in a more prominent player elsewhere in the team.

I'd prefer to keep him myself as long as things are OK behind the scenes.

But even if they are I'd gladly sacrifice Eto'o if using his salary made the difference in Mirallas signing up to longer contract or getting in another winger.

Bobby needs to be smart here. Deal with any misunderstanding if there is and get him back in the fold asap I'd say. If he wants to sell in the summer then fine cos we'll have time and options to look at. Right now any kitty we have should be spend on CB or GK not replacing a striker in the January window. Also, with him gone we're left with Lukaku and Kone. What if one of them gets injured and Kone isn't reliable at all.

Along with Lukaku and Kone we have Naismith who can play there or Mirallas at a push. Plus we have a few youngsters we could try - McAleny, Henen, Duffus, Long, Bryne.

Not ideal but better than we have on the wings for example.

I've heard he walked into Martinez office in only a bowler hat and a pair of wellies, he then proceeded to sing the Cameroon national anthem for 6 hours, only stopping for a bit of quiche to keep him going

Martinez called for Distin and Alcaraz to come and sort him out but they turned up in karate outfits and renacted the final scenes from karate kid 2 on his office desk

All in all a bad day

The forward signed a two-year contract with the Goodison club in August, albeit with the second year dependent on making 15 starts this term........

Despite making 12 starts for Everton so far, Eto’o has not appeared in three of the team’s last four games.

Interesting that bit. I'm just wondering if Martinez has decided to get rid now before a clause kicks in meaning he could sit out an extended contract.

Etoo is going... He doesn't want to be here any longer, don't force him to stay...

Sky Sport Italia insist Samuel Eto’o will meet his entourage tonight to decide on Sampdoria’s offer.

The Everton striker has been in negotiations for several days and these intensified over the last few hours.

Although Tuttomercatoweb had claimed Eto’o was already in Milan to discuss terms, Sky Sport Italia maintain he is still in England.

He’s due to meet his entourage this evening and make a final decision on whether to accept the Samp offer.

It’s reported there is €1m between offer and demand in terms of wages, but that is the only sticking point in this transfer.
