Find it scary how low our expectations are that some people find it acceptable we are going to be left with Lukaku and Kone if Eto'o leaves.

He looks a very calm and composed footballer when he comes on the pitch as sub.

The pace of the game means he is not a starter and slows play down too much.

He is a finisher and should only play up top.

Because we won't, there are other striker options as well if those two are injured.

And you seemed quite happy to just have two strikers a few weeks ago.

I'd like to see a poll, who would take a refund to spend in January and stick with Eto'o and Kone and who would keep Lukaku.

@tancredipalmeri: For those asking if Everton get fee on Eto'o: apparently there's gentlemen agreement on leaving Eto'o free agent in case of offer from Italy

No wonder. Eto is kind of a player who would demand all these funny clauses to begin with.
Players of his stature actually can easily do this

Makes it sound like his plan was always to go back to Italy to be with his family if he got a decent offer rather than this move being anything to do with our current form or backroom issues.

Well that's how it looks - no offer in Italy in the summer so join a club who he obviously thought would do better than we have, then have his agent whoring him around Italy with promises of pay cuts to get out.

That's what I reckon.

Any time off and he was always over there. Got married in Milan too I think.

Hang on. Isn't Genoa miles away from Milan?

Closer than here I guess!

Think it is less than a couple of hours drive so at least feasible for the kids to visit him regularly or him to pop back on days off - given his cash he could even hire a chauffeur and commute daily if his club agree.

But an interesting interview from the Echo, apparently we are still trying to oersuade him to stay.

Tbh if more playing time means either benching a fit Lukaku As striker or playing Eto'o as a number 10 starter behind him, think it might be a better decision to let him go.

The main thing for me is its one less player with a genuine football brain in the squad, regardless of his fading physical abilities etc. Against Newcastle him and Kone linked up really well, possibly the only time this season we've seen any genuine pass and move football. Will be a big miss in that respect.
