Sandhills station

For match traffic coming from the city, what’s the genuine possibility of using Princess parade just for match traffic instead of sending the shuttle busses up towards Costco? Or was that a nightmare yesterday as well?

A major part of the issues yesterday was too many in cars still using the Strand and Leeds Street and trying to park off Grt Howard Street. This is the nearest main road and every approach to it was completely gridlocked. Shuttle buses from town became totally ineffective after 1pm. If we open this road up to more traffic and more parking close to the site, that will only get worse. There is nowhere near enough public transport capacity nearby and there is insufficient road space too. We've know all of this for years.

Allowing more cars and parking around the area would turn it into chaos.

McBurney Transport have a big plot of land the other side of the Titanic. Either the club and partners purchases it or the council does a compulsory purchase of that land and a new station is built there. Not only would it benefit the stadium and associated developments but also the new apartments that are being built there like Tobacco warehouse and Hartley Locks.

Agree entirely but we are now seeing firms in the area cashing in and offering parking spaces for a fee, this will grow too🤔
I think there will be a lot of cars inside the "zone" as there was yesterday.
Not ideal for shuttle vehicles.
Just no simple answer here.

when you look at it in terms of timescales, what can they actually do to fix the transport before the first game of next season;

  • Trains - they could put on more trains, potentially, if they have available rolling stock and trained staff to man them, but they cant do much to the train station within that time, other than the proposed footbridge
  • Bascule Bridge - they could put on more stewards to direct people to use great Howard street instead and go around it
  • Parking - They could relax the parking restrictions, I dont think they will do that because its a great money maker for them in fines, but it would be an easy one to do.
  • Ferry's - They could quite easily have a ferry terminal at the stadium, they could do a route from; the wirral, to pier head, then BMD

I know they signed off on the Baltic station 4 or 5 years ago and were still a long time away from that’s completion .

Even they set wheels in motion this afternoon you’d be looking are what 2035 til it’s completed .

They need to drop the no parking zone apart from half a mile either side of BMD on the dock road.
Where are the coaches going to park as i haven't seen any mention of them?

It's going to come down to this in the end. A substantial part of this problem goes away if they rethink in a major way parking down there near the stadium.

That's the only hand they have to play now as far as I'm concerned, because it'll take years to sort out the transportation disaster the local state have handed Everton.

...and....

We went to Broadgreen station to get on the 12 o’clock train to Lime St. train turns up totally chocker, so we had to get a taxi. It appears Northern Rail didn’t get the memo there was a match on.

Got the 919 shuttle bus back to Lime Street (£2) which was good, although they could have organised the queue better. I didn’t understand why they loaded one bus at a time when 3 buses were there.

Definitely an idea for the future, think it would be better situated at Nelson Dock or Central, when the area is built up more and its used non match days. Probably too costly to implement atm but once the areas built up more there'll be more demand.

If they don't want anyone without a ticket entering the plaza, having a terminal directly at BMD would cause problems. Having it a little further down, then another entrance to the site from Nelson Dock would help with the flow of people.

Im not sure what the thinking is about not letting people into the plaza without a match ticket, possibly just dont want people without tickets getting in the way for the test event.
If they were to have a ferry terminal at the stadium it would just be a case of checking the match ticket when they get on the ferry at the wirral or pier head.

We were on that train as well. When we got on at Prescot it was absolutely rammed. I think people were getting turned away from about Huyton onwards as there was no space (I'm sure a few squeezed on here and there). To be fair we got the 16.30 home (to Manchester Airport) and it was absolutely fine- 6 carriages and plenty of room.

I agree with the shuttle bus thing-there should be a queue for each bus rather than one massive one to speed things up. I wouldn't want to have gotten to the shuttle buses much later than we did, given how big the queue was getting.

They always load them one at time on the shuttle buses but that is probably because they don't fill up as quick as they will do for Bramley Moore.
I think they will need more than 3 buses now the route will be slower because of the traffic
