Watch Big Match Revisited on ITV4. There's hardly a game finished without a load of kids in flares running on and patting the players on the back. Avuncular coppers ambled after them. Jumpers for goalposts.
Yep, different times back then. I'm not sure I like the sound of it though, I've heard quite a few stories of what it was like on the terraces back then. The most frequent being that people would just urinate where they were standing. If you were in front of them you were lucky if they had the decency to try and aim in a beer can, if not, it was the back of your legs. Sounds fun.

never a nice feeling when all of a sudden the rain hitting the back of your shoes is warm

Yup it was pretty basic a lot of the time!
In fact you were safer on the pitch than on the terraces, especially at places like Chelsea or Birmingham.

Well done mate.
Those new stands were never going to be big enough.
Putting the also rans yes I'm including the Dons, to shame.
Tynecastle has been adequate for as long as Hearts were mediocre. But now that the club is beginning to fulfil its potential, the issue of stadium capacity might become a problem if Hearts can sustain this level of support for the next 2-3 years.

The problem is, the club can’t expand the capacity as it’s landlocked (not too dissimilar to Goodison), plus there are restrictions due to large ethanol tanks right beside the ground which are owned by the distillery. In a way, it’s a nice problem to have.

What's your thoughts on signing Shankland? He's not hit the heights that were expected so far, but this move could be a good opportunity for him. If he starts banging them in for you, and I think he will, I think a Scotland call-up wouldn't be out the question.

I think he would fit the bill nicely. Similar to the boy, Jorge Grant we’re in for from Peterborough Utd. I think they’re both players who’ll perform if they’re at a team that’s doing quite well, rather than asking them to dig you out of a hole.

Shankland is a Hearts fan too which helps. ?

Is he still coming to Tynecastle? I'm reading conflicting reports here. Some papers saying that this Belgian team don't want to sell him.
