Did Bobby Sands play for Celtic? Or his story completely unrelated to Scottish football?

Yes, his story is completely unrelated to Scottish football and it was correct they didn't have had a minutes silence when he died. ;)

Frank McGarvey, on the other hand, is completely related to Scottish football. Not only that, he actually played for the team TRFC were playing on Monday yet, for some reason, the club refused to mention him.

This was no aberration from an over-enthusiastic stadium announcer. This decision would have been spoken about and it was decided not to mention Frank's name. It was a terrible thing to do, in my opinion.

We'll just have to speculate as to the reasons why they took the decision not to mention Frank's name before the minutes silence. As nothing can be proven, there's no point in giving opinions as to why we think this decision was taken. All we can comment on is how bad it was.

Unless it is an ongoing tradition, I don't think I would expect Rangers to have a minutes silence for McGarvey, in the same way I wouldn't expect Celtic or St Mirren to have one when an ex Rangers player dies.

If it is an ongoing tradition, then fair enough - they should have done it. Otherwise, let Celtic and St Mirren do their own tribute

I wasn't at the game. I saw it on TV. I heard a couple of shouts during it, but it didn't seem too bad on TV, just a couple of arts holes shouting. I didn't hear even one cough on TV. Also, I didn't realise they had cut the silence short. Are you sure they did this? Did you time it?

I have posted a couple of times now that I have no time for disrupting silences. Even if there was a minutes silence for someone I couldn't stand, like Thatcher, I still wouldn't disrupt it. I have no time whatsoever for the royal family, but I wouldn't dream of disrupting a minutes silence in memory of them.

I agree the Ibrox Disaster should be above point scoring, as should the deaths of players and managers, and the abuse of children, but it appears to me that a lot of the Rangers support want to cherry pick what subjects can be sung about, and all of them seem to involve Celtic. It was only a week or so ago that the Rangers support were singing "Merry Christmas Tommy Burns"

So to recap, I have no time whatsoever for any of that utter Scheidt, no matter who is singing it. I would much prefer it if fans sang about football.
Look, I agree with much of what you are saying there. I know there's an idiot element among Rangers supporters, anyone singing about someone's death is sub-human. The singing about TB's death was condemned by the Rangers supporters association, as well it should. But we could probably both point to examples of horrific behaviour among our respective fan base, e.g. celtic fans, and other club fans singing and laughing about the deaths of Walter Smith & Andy Goram. Plus the idiots that think making fun of the Ibrox disaster is acceptable.
I would say the same thing about Celtic and cherry picking, but this will get us nowhere. I think we can both agree that this behaviour, from any side is not acceptable in a, supposedly, civilised society like ours.

I didn't time it personally, but it's widely reported that the minute's silence was cut short, at 40 seconds roughly. It may seem trivial arguing over 20 seconds but it's the principle.

Anyway, thanks for the reasonable and considered response.
