The minutes silence thing was a shame as was the bottle launched into the Celtic fans.
I wasn't surprised about the shouting tbh.
I remember fergus mccann telling the Celtic fans they will honour those poor souls back in the day.

But glorifying terrorism and bouncing on people's heads isn't on.
I agree. If a bottle was thrown that idiot needs to be banned for life and reported to the police. Without a doubt. The same goes for anyone singing about the UDA/UVF/IRA.

"There's nothing to see here" Are you serious? The minutes silence was cut short due to the Celtic 'fans' behaviour, regardless of whether Celtic brought a floral wreath or not.
It wasn't cut short though, it went on for a long time. And if it was it was the case that renagers fans were screaming abuse at Celtic fans for some fictitious 'disrespect'.

I know what I heard.

You've got to be joking. Still no condemnation of the fact that the minutes silence had to be cut short. I heard the Celtic fans with my own ears. Trying to downplay this is nothing short of horrendous. This hypocrisy carries on all the time. As for the "Big Jock knew" thing, I agree that this is also disgusting point scoring, but the difference is that it was Celtic's attempts to distance themselves from the abuse that other fans have picked up on.
You dont think the life of Frank McGarvey was worth mentioning before a moment/minutes contemplation?

Maybe if rangers' idiot P.A. would have stated that the silence was also in memory of McGarvey then there'd have been COMPLETE silence around the stadium....no, sorry, not 'maybe' - definitley.

People in glass houses etc.

It was cut short after 40 seconds. I know, I was there. I know what I heard.

Yes, I do think he was worth mentioning but it's not me that makes thst decision.
I'm absolutely staggered that you are blaming Rangers for the behaviour of Celtic fans. Have you had a stroke? Are you actually reading what you are writing?
Don't you think the lives of 66 people, that's 66 people who died, are worth 60 seconds of silence being respected, or are they only worth 40 seconds?
There was people in the stadium that lost loved ones that day and its supposedly the fault of the Rangers PA? Absolute balderdash.

Let me tell you how I know that report is BS...this line:

"Before kick-off between the two Glasgow rivals, there was a scheduled silence to commemorate the Ibrox disaster of 1971, as well as the deaths of Celtic icon Frank McGarvey, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Brazil legend Pele."

That is claptrap. The reporter made that up completely. There was only a mention of the Ibrox stadium disaster preceding that minute's silence by the P.A. there was NO mention of McGarvey or Pele...and certainly no mention of the former Pope Benedict!

I could hear a few raised voices that were met by boos from rangers fans.

You're still deflecting. Considering it was at Ibrox, the exact place of the disaster, I would suggest that this would be the priority in terms of remembrance. To downplay these antics on Monday is beyond the pale.

it feels really easy for me . disrespecting a minutes silence for the ibrox disaster wrong , throwing bottles wrong , sectarian singing wrong . I’m happy to take on any more , I don’t understand how some people become so entrenched they engage in the ridiculous whataboutery that’s become synonymous with this particular part of Scottish footy that they can’t see the wood for the trees . By the way that’s some people not all obviously .

I'm not downplaying them, you are overplaying them.

Are you suggesting if Frank McGarvey's name was mentioned before that minute's silence it would have resulted in Celtic fans shouting out?

The Rangers P.A.s decision not to mention McGarvey (no doubt taken under discussion with that club's herarchy) created any tension over that minutes silence that there may have been. Rangers and their fans have to own that.

They'd desecrate the memory of their own player?

Utter tripe.
They absolutely will.

Could've recited some catholic nonsense and done a mural of the pope and they still will.

In fairness, Rangers' (vocal?) fans aren't that much better when it's Celtic, so I dunno, equally as bad on a good day sums it up.

But after all, you are proud and Irish, so no one can convince you that the Celtic Saints ever do anything wrong I guess.

You absolutely are downplaying this. Do you think it's ok to spoil a 60 second remembrance for 66 innocent people that died just going to a football game? It certainly seems so.
