The Celtic View
Player Valuation: £15m
But then that is exactly my point.
Celtic have no need to spend money to be competitive in the Scottish League. They dominate it despite that and buy all the best players around them each year for buttons.
Therefore there is no competition, no desire there to compete with the European elite and never will be. So the knock on effect is to the rest of the country, less money as it's less glamourous and then the quality then drops further.
This is exactly what I'm saying here mate. How can you expect the other 10 teams in the premiership to have a chance of breaking that monopoly with no money ? They can't , so they are poorer for it.
And then because of all of that , the national team has poorer players because they play at a poorer standard.
When Rangers were out of the top division it wasn't competitive, but it was last year, and is again this season. Celtic don't have the cash Premiership clubs do. The club is quite well run financially, and lives within it's means. It tries to get players on Bosman's, or low transfer fees, so it can pay better wages to them.
Spending 7 million pounds on French centre back Christopher Jullien is a huge transfer for the SPFL. No club in Scotland can afford to fill their team with signings as expensive as this, never mind the 70, and 80, million pounds that have been spent on centre backs in the EPL.
