They create an excellent atmosphere at Celtic Park, and they do a lot of stuff for charity that doesn't get reported, but in my opinion, which admittedly is the opinion of an old man, they take themselves far too seriously.

When I look at them jumping around and singing I imagine they must be having a great time, but Instead of just going along to the ground and having fun, they want to sing songs, or use pyrotechnics, that they know will get the club a fine.

I think they see themselves as political, but when you say you won't be told by the club which songs you can sing then you're starting to lose the plot a bit, and, as I said, are taking yourselves far too seriously.

I agree. At this stage the political stuff should be dropped.

Again, Rovers fans in the 70s and 80s were always singing Republican songs and anti Orange chants.

The new "Ultras" in Tallaght are much more colourful, keep the noise and songs going all game, but there are never any political songs or chants. Mind you they still squared up to Linfield's mob in Belfast and in Dublin - old habits not completely gone!!

Alsi there are no pro Celtic chants these days - not because of animosity but I think to get away from the "mini Celtic" idea and stress a new 21st century identity in a fine modern stadium.

Also, there is not the same interest in Scottish football amongst LOI fans as of old.

Used to cycle through govanhill etc on my way to work when I lived in Glasgow. I never had an axe to grind with Rangers until I met them first hand. Now i know some decent Rangers fans, I used to live by McCoist in Kilmacolm and he was a good bloke, met Richard Gough when he was visiting and he was nice too....

But then you get Bomber Brown rabble rousing outside Ibrox when they went bust. The absolute state of their fans turning Manchester into a warzone cos the ale ran out, a mates brother losing his eye because he got glasses in a rangers pub near ibrox for wearing green trainers on the sub crawl, the bouncy bouncy... i could go on.

I dealt with them and Celtic as a commercial entity when I worked on the commonwealth games stadium services team as well. Celtic were open to suggestions, didn't bat an eyelid at the queen being present at Parkhead for the opening ceremony, a pleasure... Rangers were arrogant to the point of telling the catering manager of 3 Olympic games that they knew better than him how to manage the event.

I don't think any Rangers fan, is arsed about what you think. As for John Browne a great man and a great Ranger. You don't like Rangers, everyone doesn't like Rangers, yeah yeah we get it.You hate us because you aint us.Nobody likes us we don't care.;) Anyone can tell lies and spread hearsay over the internet.

It's exhausting. I would much prefer it if the GB just sang songs about Celtic.

I don't have a problem with singing Irish songs, I wouldn't want Celtic to end up like Hibs, but to still be singing about the troubles that happened decades ago seems a bit OTT to me. I wonder if they'll ever move on?

Steven Gerrard has accused jealous rivals of trying to kill the Rangers career of Alfredo Morelos.

The Ibrox boss claims there is an agenda to drive the Colombian striker out of Scottish football and undermine their title challenge.

Bullish Gerrard, speaking from his club’s mid-winter training camp in Dubai, also told rivals to get their own house in order as he went on the front foot in defence of his player. Gerrard said: “Is Alfredo perfect right now? No. Will he makes a few mistakes going forward? I predict he probably will, but a lot of the fallout and the opinion, people do want to kill him.

“People want to see him on the other side of the world for good. You also have to understand where that’s coming from and the reasons why it’s getting said.
It’s because he is a threat, it’s because he scores big goals and is a big player for Rangers. He is one of the big reasons and the key factors that, if we are to be successful, they know it will be largely down to his goals and his contribution."

Gerrard has also backed the statement released by Rangers in the aftermath of their Parkhead victory that stated the cut throat gesture by Morelos was lost in cultural translation. “Listen, it’s an emotional game...In terms of the celebrations, it is my responsibility to make sure the players celebrate in the right way."

The cut throat gesture by Morelos was lost in cultural translation.

Hmmm, where have I heard this type of defence before....
