An important message from Lord Steven of Huyton:

"These times are unlike any we have witnessed before. The UK faces challenges never experienced in our generation, certainly since the Second World War.

"Our city of Glasgow is a proper football city, and Rangers are a proper football club. I grew up in a resilient city. I played football in a resilient city. I am now proud to manage in a resilient city.

"Football makes a city, Rangers makes Glasgow.

"I know nothing but football clubs who have faced down periods of incredible difficulty, but like our cities, because of your support, we will come through again, stronger than before.

"That is what makes us who we are. We fight back to be even stronger when times are hard. Rangers gives us all something to rally around – that is why I am here."

Rather than the platitudes, why doesnt he focus on actually narrowing the gap on the managerial genius that is Neil Lennon who has given him the run around for the 2nd time running?

Gerrards got massively our of jail this season. They were floundering and he was exposed as the fraud he is. They were about to implode.

I also think, for all his faux hard man nonsense, Neil Lennon flattens him if he tries any funny business.

If Scotland had Duncan Ferguson at Euro 96 how far do you think they would have gone in the tournament?

They might have beaten the Netherlands and scored more than one against the Swiss but I think the result would have stayed as was against England

Same for France, they got through the group comfortably enough but struggled in the knockouts and missed that extra spark that Cantona would have gave them

I think they could genuinely have beaten France

At that point anything could happen
