I don't recall using the word 'gifted' but no doubt you'll show me where I did. Celtic, like the other lot across the park down here, were simply the best from last August to now. Your proposal to make the season null and void, the 'easiest and fairest option(!)' fails to take into account things like who represents Scotland as champions in the Champions League? What other criteria could you use than to ask the team who were virtually certain to win it (I accept that 'virtually' is not 'actually') to play in it? In that scenario Celtic would be champions in name, so it is logical for the Scottish Premier clubs (including The Rangers) to vote as they did. Now, your point is moot. By the way, football is a business nowadays. It stopped being a game a long time ago. That's why the Premier League in England (who depend on TV for their money) are mo ing heaven and earth to get football back on. If you're looking for a sour taste, look at the English Prem.
Congratulations Celtic. Worthy champions.
Splitting hairs now, but You agree you said that Celtic were awarded the title - synonyms for awarded or award include gave,GIFT,given, bestowed, presented, granted, endowed etc etc - they have been awarded/gifted the title, via vote using average PPG, nothing has been technically won in an actual footballing sense - do you agree?
I have not mentioned European qualification, but if you null and void, as the Dutch league have, then the team who were top of the league when suspended, would go into the top competition, and I have absolutely no issue with that team being Celtic.
Not once have I said that Celtic did not deserve to win the league, and would they have won it - highly likely on form etc, but it hasn't been decided on the pitch, PPG has won the league, so any victory, celebrations and sporting integrity, are tainted.
The main problem I have with PPG is relegation -I hear Hearts are suing the spfl and I would expect Everton or any club to do so should they be in the same situation - integrity is ruined again in this case, and so I would have thought that Celtics celebrations would have been more subdued/refrained.
I also completely agree with you on the English league, and the clamour to resume is in very poor taste. I disagree with any notion of a return in the sham that is being proposed, with fundamental rule changes being implemented midway through the competition - it is all about money, nothing more, and again the notion of sporting integrity is completely trampled on.
My whole point was on the classless nature of Celtics celebrations, and interviews that there management team have given on the win (Lennon's career highlight is being awarded/gifted a title - really?!) considering the current pandemic, and the way in which they have "won" the competition.
Congratulations Celtic - worthy "and classless" winners - fixed that for you.
