SCRAP VAR

The thing about the VVD one especially the still pic that's going around is look where the ball as the point of contact.
Its behind VVD that's how late and dangerous it was.

The 3 teams that benefitted from the weekends atrocious VAR decisions are Chelsea Liverpool City (coincidence?) of course not.
EDIT: Just realised VVD tackle didnt even go to VAR!

The worse one for me was West Hams, that's nothing to do with incompetence or a mistake its clear corruption, mistakes get made during real time not watching them on repeat 10 times through a monitor.

Its not fit for purpose its there to eradicate mistakes so were better off without it, its also taking the euphoria out of goal celebrations. Its killing the game.

BTW did Richarlison's yellow card get rescinded after getting booked for his disallowed goal celebration?
No.

I thought it was odd they didn’t apply the lines during the game, not on my feed anyway. But wouldn’t argue that aspect.

The last player to touch the ball was an opposition player, I’m not sure what the technicalites are anymore they’ve fiddled with it that much - Ive spoken to professional coaches in the game, who can’t rhyme and reason it and struggle to apply the rule to coaching given the variance in application.

To my mind if the last touch is of the opposing team your onside, it’s how I was coached, I’m sure there is a technicality in the rule for interruption, but thats part of the problem in application and variance around it.
It's not that technical. Deflections aren't considered deliberate playing it and don't count.

WOW Why not? Its should of been
Shirt removal is an automatic yellow card, irrespective of the circumstance.
The only exception being an enforced change of shirt due to getting torn or bloodied... and that's generally at a stoppage in play.

Coady looked clearly offside even in real time.

However, VAR absolutely needs to go. It seems they look for a reason to disallow every goal scored.

Disagree. The contact came AFTER Mendy beat Bowen to the ball and knocked it away. Bowen could have leapt clear but chose to drag his trailing foot across Mendy.

Now, do I think he caused an injury? No. But it was deliberate, without doubt. To my mind Bowen was either trying to cause an injury or trying to provoke Mendy into retaliating. As I said in the post you quoted: if that's Pickford in that situation we'd all be screaming for play to stop and the attacker to be booked.

If you think that's no foul, play on, then would you accept US conceding a goal in that manner??
This seems to be too bad a take to be a serious one, so I shouldn't rise to it. All I can say is that you would make an excellent Premier League referee :)

What an absolutely ridiculous law.
Well, it might be but... why do players who know full well they're going to get yellow carded keep on doing it ???
They immediately put them selves at risk of a second and a red if they commit a silly foul etc.
And whilst some players are clearly think as mince you would think that they also face a fine from their manager/club for picking up needless yellow cards.

Ian Wright just (motd2) "VAR are looking for anything they can find to be able to rule this goal out"

It's pulling a lot of negative will.

Get rid of it. Should have stopped after the goal line technology. Absolutely minuscule offsides and adding another layer of subjectivity to penalty calls have not enhanced the game one bit,
This is all because we had blurts like Danny Murphy and Graeme Souness going on about needing video replays every single week. It's the same kind of logic as voting for Brexit without knowing what leaving the EU entails

But what counts as a defection, Milner is clearly defending the ball, he intends to make contact with the ball.
Blocking a cross/shot is a deflection.

I think trying to question that instance is being obtuse.

Which is back to my original point. There are plenty of 100% wrong calls to get all bothered about, let's maybe leave the 99% right ones alone.

I don’t think it is, the test is the intent and wheather it was accidental or deliberate play, if it’s deliberate then the offside resets and you can’t be offside. Milner to my mind intended to defend the play and make contact with the ball.
