SCRAP VAR

No that isn't the rule exactly.

I've seen on Twitter people are sincerely using that picture as evidence he was on. Part of the problem with the whole refereeing debate is people are extremely emotional (or maybe just dumb). It wasn't onside. Also it wasn't handball against Milner. Just take the 100% bull poop ones like the Van Dijk tackle and hammer that home. Trying to pick every single call out doesn't make it stronger.
Never in a million years should that've been a red card. He quite clearly got just gets to the ball a fraction after Onana does, it's not like he's flying in two-footed. Would've been livid if one of ours had been sent off for that.

And MY post was a bad take???

Wow.

Studs up, above the ankle, but NOT a red? Goodness me, did young Amadou goose your missus?

I refer you to my question at the end of the post you quoted.
The one about if it was us would I have a problem? Yes, obviously I would and I'd be sick with Jordan Pickford for cheating his way out of his mistake. I'd encourage anybody to not be so tribal when it comes to VAR decisions, because we all lose in the end

This.

I was buzzing Moyes and West Ham were fuming and was also buzzing when Coutinho's goal was disallowed but its wrong and destroying the game we love by people who've never kicked a ball in their lives.

Stick to the goal line technology and let the incompetent referees do what they've been doing for over a century and officiate the game, their will be mistakes of course their will, every team will be on the end of a good and bad decision.

I cant be doing with celebrating a goal for then 2 minutes later it gets taken away from you, nah that's not football. Football is all about emotion good and bad, i don't want it to be robotic, i dont want it to work in millimeters.

Create a pool of European referees and distribute them to each game in different leagues each week, then there becomes no bias towards certain fanbases or certain managers they've took a bit of stick off.

I like this idea, it's just a shame half of Europe are plastic kopites

VAR is doing exactly what it's designed to do, fix results when the ESL clubs have non scripted incidents go against them.

I say keep var but

1) make it black and white silhouettes so the decision maker doesn't know who it's for

2) don't use refs, have specialist VAR operators

3) have the conservation between the ref and var operator on the speakers so the crows can hear what they're saying
Wow, number one is the best idea I have heard in a long long time.

See, I find a comment like this very odd. There’s no doubt in my mind that’s a red card. Caught on the ankle, if he would of snapped his ankle would it of been given a straight red? It was an awful awful tackle.

Let’s put it into perspective, last season Allan gets sent off for catching ASM on the boot when he was sprinting away. The VVD tackle is head down, not winning the ball, hurting a player by tackling them on the ankle, it truly was a horrible challenge.

It’s OK to blame referees to an extent, but it is a thankless task when everyone is trying to cheat you. If they encouraged a zero tolerance approach with heavy penalties it would disappear in months. Yellows and then reds for diving, etc. if you if a panel that handed out bans for stuff like Mendy then it would send a clear message.
Good idea. Get Danny Murphy as chairperson. He'd do a great job.

I don’t think it is, the test is the intent and wheather it was accidental or deliberate play, if it’s deliberate then the offside resets and you can’t be offside. Milner to my mind intended to defend the play and make contact with the ball.
It isn't how it is refereed and it shouldn't be changed to this.

Wrong adjectives, thats the rule, it’s the application that creates the variance, it’s not referred consistently.
The exact phrase is deliberately plays, they basically have decided that being hit with the ball isn't playing it even if your intention is to get hit. Again that is the rule in practice and changing it to what you're saying is a bad idea.

Yes mate, I’ve been saying that throughout, if you follow my posts, not they, this referee applied the judgement, that Milner had no intent to play the ball, he clearly did therefore I disagree with the referees application of the rule.
