2018/19 Seamus Coleman

Like a lot of players, as he's got older the youthful head down and run phase has gone and been replaced with an experienced player who second guesses his decisions.

Too stop start on the ball, always asking for options when players are nearby and available only to then go backwards to Keane.

Even when he had that chance in behind, Coleman of 4/5 years ago takes the touch, composes himself and buries it or waits for a clumsy tackle from the winger tracking back but instead he just swiped at it in a panic.

As a side note i don't think his partnership with Walcott helps as it's clear as day they take up each others space.

I'd be tempted to give Holgate a go. Kenny is worse than Coleman.

At least out our entire old guard (Jagielka, Williams, Baines, Coleman, Rooney) will be either gone completely or at least not starting from next season.

Wow. What a utterly horrible performance. Piss poor up and down the line. He's been abysmal this season, and I'm one of his biggest advocates. Now I'm convinced the injury has finished him off. He's lost his ability, and his confidence is shot - a deadly combination. Not his fault of course regarding the injury, and it really pains me to see one of my all time favourites Blues so rapidly on the decline in what should be his peak years, but he desperately needs replacing ASAP. I hope the manager sees this too, no room for sentiment I'm afraid.
He is not the player he was prior to the injury.Need an attacking r/b come january.

He seems to hesitate a lot when he has the ball it is like he doubts himself maybe the injury is still playing on his mind.

Very noticeable tiday.......momentum down the right stopped practically every time he got on the ball inside the last third of the pitch and he either stopped still or turned back.

I am beginning to think right back is becoming a position we need fixed sooner rather than later :(

Great post.
*wipes away tear reading it and agreeing with it all*

I love Seamus; however, he’s always been a player that achieved a level beyond his skill set, and talent due to his work ethic. That has made him a polarizing and beloved player for the club.

Now after age and injury his rate of decline is increased. I hope he gets a proper respectful send off; and it hurts me to say it, but I think it’s time we moved on sooner rather than later.

I don´t think it was his best game but there´s no one at the club that would have played better in that position so not much we can do.
