And for those on about loyalty - we done that by giving him a new bumper deal after his leg break when many other clubs would have held fire.

No one is saying he should be sold, however its clear he is no longer a guaranteed 1st team player and he shouldn't be treated any better than any other player. We need another RB good enough like Digne to replace him if he continues to be average/ below par.

He's also our only good right-back, so that's a problem with moving him on as well.

He doesn't need to go anywhere. He's in a bit of a bad run of form. He's still coming back from an awful injury, the kind of which has previously ended careers.

How about we stick by our best and most committed players, ey?

The question needs to be asked though.

He's started the season very poorly, even without the last two games, before that he struggled.

He's 30, coming off the back of a massive injury, as well as a lot of hamstring issues. We're probably seeing the start of the decline and it needs addressing instead of hoping he comes good again

Swansea fans said the same about Siggurdsson

Palace about Bolasie

Burnley about Keane

Watford about Silva

Any club below us would lose their best players providing we offered the £££.

£45-50 million and he would be out the door mate.

If Moshiri is willing to spend that sort of money on a RB is another thing...

If he is for sale there would be bigger clubs sniffing around him.

Its not the time to make a move for him.

If his form is still crap in January, then yes, we maybe look at improving that position for the long-term.

I'm really not worried.

I think he defended pretty ok against 2 form players to be fair in the last 2 games. I’m more dissatisfied with his delivery and he should have buried that chance against De gea on Sunday. I think he will be far more effective on Saturday against BHA.

Not disagreeing with the general point mate, but has he actually been that bad this season?

He played well defensively against both Wolves and S'ton. He didn't play brilliantly at Bournemouth but wasn't awful. Had a bit of a stinker against Huddersfield, which they all did.

He's then gone off with Ireland and broke his foot, and since he came back just seems to be lacking a bit of sharpness/conviction to his play. Defensively on Sunday he wasn't as bad as people are making out either. Martial never actually got the better of him one-v-one. Martial got the joy when was afforded space by others to move into and onto the ball, with Coleman either pushed up the pitch or, in the instance for the second goal, trying to do the jobs of two players because Walcott didn't get back.

It's just sad seeing him not being as incisive as he usually is – the injury has without a doubt taken it's toll on the burst of pace that used to get him around full backs.

Bournemouth was his worst game, if I recall. Wasted so many chances and looked rusty defensively. Actually thought he played Martial quite well on the whole.

Really want it to work out for him, but the reality is that not many players fully recover from that kind of injury.

I think the stats show mate that he's not actually any slower than he was before. The difference is that general athleticism/fitness - he's kind of hesitating because he doesn't seem to think he has the legs to get back into position. When he does get forward, I agree entirely that his decisions haven't been up to scratch.

Coleman said himself that the contract had already been agreed before the injury. To honour it was professional rather than just being about ‘loyalty’.
