2018/19 Seamus Coleman

How’s it harsh? Before his injury he’d have been fine with those two. I understand the sentimentality but no one seems to be able to name a game post-injury he was actually decent in bar his adrenaline-fuelled debut.

Yesterday within the first like 15 mins he charged out to Martial or Rashford as they were receiving a pass, basically stuck to their back and they just knocked it to the side and sprinted past into a gaping hole. I was just like ffs it’s the most amateurish defending.

Bolasie was useful before his injury, Coleman was brilliant too. Why is it so inconceivable to people he may not recover properly from it?

I agree Kenny isn’t the answer - a new signing is.

The problem is our club are too sentimental and have little ambition. Coleman has been a fantastic servant and is still a useful addition to the squad however its clear as day he'll be targetted by opponents as he was yesterday.

If we had a right sided Digne Martial wouldn't have got the joy he did.

Our fans talk of needing a better record away to the top 6 well that starts by stopping keeping players past their sell by date like Jags, Howard, Baines, Neville etc etc to be exploited by the leagues best players.

Get to January and bring in a striker and RB.

Batshuyai & Wan - Bissaka for me.

I do think of all people Seamus should be given time to play himself into form. Either way the alternative is Kenny and I know who I'd prefer. I agree a replacement is needed if he can't get back to that level (also in the long term) but I think it will be a summer job personally. If we could get a right sided Digne that would be sound.

10 two-footed Luca Digne's and we'd win the Champions league!

Every player has a drop in form every now and again.

Pound for pound he`s been one of our best ever signings.

He isn`t finished, but we need proper cover.

He`ll come good again.
Seamus has only ever been what I'd call a decent defender anyway. He's never been great. But what he gave you offensively more than made up for his failings at the other end. But at the moment, he isn't doing that either.

Sometimes opposing players can just have an outstanding game. It happens, especially when they have a number of top class players. There is a reason why the transfer window thread is jam packed with people saying we should be buying Martial. What he did to Seamus yesterday he would most probably had done to JJ too, and nearly every other right back we might happen to have preferred in that position. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the attacker. I'm more concerned by his miss at the other end late on. An in form Coleman would have buried that but he didn't even work the keeper.

At the moment, Seamus is a better option than Kenny who isn't ready to be first choice yet. His form is a worry but I'd give him until the end of the season before I think seriously about replacing him. A fully fit and in form Coleman is probably in the top 3 in the league. Let's hope he get's that form back.

We are not getting Wan Bissaka in January! Or probably ever.

He is a Palace fan and we are nowhere near a big enough step up fro him to be tempted to move this early in his career.

The way things are going, I think he'll find himself replaced in the summer. The physicality that once gave him and edge over most opponents looks to have all but deserted him.

He's been terrible this season, but that Utd game shouldn't be something to attack him with. Walcott played poorly in front of him and Pogba kept straying onto that side, so they always had an extra man.

I get where your coming from mate, but then you recommend Bissaka after watching him play once.

How about you give a world class right back some extra time after being injured. As fans we shout about lack of loyalty, you have a guy that's been one of the best right backs in the prem for the last ten years, had a awful injury, followed by another injury.

He will find his way.

To note Martial would have done the same thing to Digne and Bissaka

The problem we will have with moving Coleman on is the same we had for years with Baines - he's a fan favourite and a great bloke so the echo and fans on social media will be championing him regardless of performance.

Walcott has been slammed but Coleman has got off relatively scott free in terms of media criticism.

He's also our only good right-back, so that's a problem with moving him on as well.

He doesn't need to go anywhere. He's in a bit of a bad run of form. He's still coming back from an awful injury, the kind of which has previously ended careers.

How about we stick by our best and most committed players, ey?

Swansea fans said the same about Siggurdsson

Palace about Bolasie

Burnley about Keane

Watford about Silva

Any club below us would lose their best players providing we offered the £££.

£45-50 million and he would be out the door mate.

If Moshiri is willing to spend that sort of money on a RB is another thing...

Not disagreeing with the general point mate, but has he actually been that bad this season?

He played well defensively against both Wolves and S'ton. He didn't play brilliantly at Bournemouth but wasn't awful. Had a bit of a stinker against Huddersfield, which they all did.

He's then gone off with Ireland and broke his foot, and since he came back just seems to be lacking a bit of sharpness/conviction to his play. Defensively on Sunday he wasn't as bad as people are making out either. Martial never actually got the better of him one-v-one. Martial got the joy when was afforded space by others to move into and onto the ball, with Coleman either pushed up the pitch or, in the instance for the second goal, trying to do the jobs of two players because Walcott didn't get back.
