He didn't go far enough imo. Lad cost 60k and has given us almost his entire, distinguished career. I would have Cantona'd the Park End

They want to know if he still got it
They say football's changed
They wanna know how I feel about it
(If you ain't up on thangs)
Coleman, Shay is the name
I'm ahead of my game
Still puffing my cheeks
Still good with my feet, still got their left backs beat

You`inner Toby is still alive and well lol

Found the celebration strange tbh. I know people are getting on his back but he must know that is only because of his subpar performances of late.

We have looked much weaker on the right side, since he has come back into the side, over the last 3 games. Jonjoe just looked more comfortable there in the games prior to that.

Coleman has been a great player for this club and I still think he has the fight to continue being very good. But he does need to improve. Hopefully this goal will be the catalyst for that.

I didn't like the celebration. He's been poor, what are people meant to do? Turn a blind eye?

He's a top professional and player but you should be able to take criticism rather than going mad at your own supporters.
On one hand, it was nice to see that Seamus is still clearly very passionate and wanting to succeed, yet it did seem like a slightly crass celebration from him.

Like others have mentioned, I'm a huge fan of Seamus and he's undoubtedly been a fantastic players over the years, but sentiment can only stretch so far.

As of late, he has not performed particularly well and while he did score yesterday (that can't be ignored) his crosses were once again woeful - Neville style.

Some of the comments on here about have been unfair, yet equally we can't bury our head in the sand and pretend he's played well: it's all about balance.

He not the first everton player over the last few seasons to celerbate with a two fingers up to the crowd.

Just shows that the toxic between the fans and players again. Can you imagine a rs player doing that at Anfield. Doubt it.

That celebration will go against him when he has another bad game. Those fans will be back on his back but worst then ever.

The celebration wasn't "where's the abuse now", it was just an outpouring of emotion.

This stuff about him having a poor start to the season has totally been taken out of context. He's had an awful run of injuries. He needs a run in the side to get settled and get his form back.

Hopefully, yesterday was the start of that.

They weren't though.

His first of the game was a perfect cut-back for Gylfi that Gyfli missed.

He then put in another 2-3 great crosses before HT which our attackers didn't gamble on. He did the same again after the interval.

This crossing criticism baffles me. Yes, it has been poor as of late, but Coleman has NEVER been a player who delivers an inch-perfect cross ala Trippier, Walker, Baines (and now Digne) etc.

His style has always been either a low cut-back or a floated cross in. That requires people to be gambling and be aware that the cross is coming in, so they have to get on the end of it.

We'll have to agree to disagree there as I (and many others) thought they were poor. Yes he's never been a fantastic crosser, but they were noticeably ineffective.

If they're regularly not beating the first man or are slowly lofted making it easy for the keeper or defenders to clear, then they're by definition poor crosses.

I understand your point of players gambling on crosses, but in the mainstay I wouldn't have attributed that as the problem yesterday as they were far too easy.

Perhaps Digne has raised our expectations with his prowess on the right, however I can't ignore how much weaker our right looks. Just my opinion of course.

I can see why he celebrated like he did. I dont think he should have done it, but I can understand it. He's been lavished with the "Sixty grand" songs for years and must have been thinking when he began to get doubters that 'they forget the price tag conveniently when it suits', but most of all that it's relaltively recently after coming back from a potentially career-ending leg break and it takes time to get back confidence and whatever form was there before.

All that said, I do believe we need better competition than Kenny is giving him in that position.

Tough test for him next week, if his celebration was “2 fingers up” to the fans; then he’s going to have to back it up with a good performance.

His goal was good yesterday but the rest of his game was far from his best, from a team that offered little to no threat down the left.

I hope he can back it up because he’s been a great signing, but players who decide to vent their frustrations after they’ve played terribly for weeks, only end up setting themselves up for more.

After 10 years of top professionalism, top consistent performances and a great ambassador for the club.all for £60 k he deserves backing in after coming back from that injury.
I do understand all of this. And I love the bloke and player. I don't think we have anyone who currently or in the last 10 years that can lace his boots at RB.

But he's still had a poor patch. When he's getting beaten in a one v one he's usually so good at defending, or when the 5th cross to absolutely no one comes in, fans can't be expected to filter disappointment or frustration just because it's Coleman.

He'll know he's having a poor patch. What is missing from this debate is he HAS had lots of support, lots of benefit of doubt. Look at that reception too when he returned last season.

I didn't like the celebration, perhaps I'm in the minority.

Cant find a blue shirt with a cross, simple as that. For once in twenty years of going the match, we're getting players in the box... and we cant find them.

Otherwise he's fine, not the level he was but certainly better than Kenny.

I'm not talking about becoming totally ruthless and crass, however I do feel that as a club (and as fans) we've been somewhat overly sentimental over the years.

For example, look at Baines: he was a wonderful player in his prime - one of the best in Europe - but personally I feel that reputation carried him for far too long.

I'm not advocating unjust criticism or that he should be replaced, yet if he's not performing to a necessary level then we should be able to have a fair discussion.

Simply because he is Coleman or because he's a blue (i.e. Davies) doesn't mean we should bury our head; basically, we need to be clinical in our decision making.

It may not be a popular point, however I would not be surprised if Brands is already looking at a long-term replacement for Coleman or someone to challenge him.

Like yourself, I have been a huge fan of Seamus and genuinely hope he can rekindle his best form but his celebration was unpleasant and I do feel he's waning.

We've got Chelsea next. I have a bad feeling about this. Coleman or no Coleman. Also, he IS getting over a pretty horrific injury. Look at how long it took Bolasie to recover.

Btw what's happened to Jags? The injuries/suspensions page isn't working, is he still injured?
