Coleman explains why Spurs hammering 'felt like something different' for Everton
Seamus Coleman believes Everton sunk to a new low in their loss to Tottenham on Mondaywww.liverpoolecho.co.uk
Like clockwork
Well according to Sky he pulled all four defenders together in a huddle at the start of the game to give them a rallying cry! lolHere he comes with his rallying cry
Shame he didn’t use that mouth to organise the defence last night
He can’t play in any system at premier league levelThe only position he can competently play at this stage of his career is right of a back 3. And we are awful in a back 3 system.
I give a flying one too. And I'm Irish. But I'm not good enough to play for Everton now - and that's one more thing that Seamus and I have in common. He's the only one of that lot who gives a flying one.
Did you watch the last two home PL games? If you think that then you didn't.I give a flying one too. And I'm Irish. But I'm not good enough to play for Everton now - and that's one more thing that Seamus and I have in common.
Love it Seamie!
Captains performance. Did phenomenal.
Shut me right up, excellent today
He was brilliant. Great desire to get to that ball for his goal. Get in seamus.
Proper captain's performance. Take a bow Seamus.
Absolutely fantastic today.
Great game today best performance from him & many others tbh
What a great servant he has been for us - gave 110 percent today ...
Was brilliant today because we played a system that didn't require him to get as far forward and do his impression of crossing. He's still a very decent defender, we've just been playing him like he's still 26.
I think he's looked better since Lampard took over. Not sure if its just his own determination or how Lampard has been wanting him to play. I still worry about him when I see him 1v1 defensively at times.
When we needed him he stood up once again. Those calling for Patterson, we needed a captain and he had a captain performance.
Love him
The emotion on his face after the goal was beautiful to see
That is what this Captain is about.
Taken some stick and rightly so. But played like a captain today. Determination for the goal fantastic
….Lampard was full of praise for ‘a special man, a special captain and a special player’. Gordon also praised his leadership post match.
Odd that some don’t think he’s a very good captain.
You made us proud again Séamus! Keep em at it.
love Seamus almost as much as he loves Everton. How fantastic it would be to see him lift the FA cup at Wembley. I don't think i could handle it, i would be a blubbering fool on the floor.
Nothing better than seeing a full back putting in that effort to get forward, gambling, and getting a tap in inside the 6 yard box
If you make the effort consistently over the course of the season, you will get the break of the ball a few times. Been far too often this season we've never had more than 1 person in the area.
This is how we have to play at Goodison. Hard work in attack and defence. Make your tackles, work back in defence, and show determination to get into scoring areas.
Probably the most enigmatic player of the premier league era. Bought for 60k, known by many as the best right back in the league at his peak, career changing injury, recovers and still does a job. Club captain and well respected by every Evertonian, and more importantly by his fellow players and managers..
Great way about him and very scarce today. He could have abandoned us years ago for better things if he wanted to.
Yet some of our ̶b̶e̶l̶l̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ /fans want to slag him at every opportunity. Baffling.
We all know (none more than him) that he's now in the twilight of his career.
His body may be slowly letting him down, but his contribution today was all about passion and determination.
He displayed a Mike Lyons type 'run through brick walls' attitude. There was just no way he wasn't going to get his head to that ball.
A real Captains goal and an inspiration for the rest of the team.
Just look at his face after he scored. He was almost in tears ffs. It means everything to him. Nobody is more committed and more passionate about winning for us.
Is he the top tier right back he was 7 or 8years ago? No. Is he still a decent right back... yes, and more than that, he would walk over broken glass for the club.
Patterson hasnt started for us yet,but if Coleman is his mentor, and if he has half the class and commitment for the club than Seamus has then he will be a star.
Love this guy. A proper leader and a true blue.
Throwing his head at the ball at the back post in open play is exactly where you want your full back.
….I think the influence of a captain goes largely unnoticed by people watching or outside the day to day running of a football club. Fans seem to think you need the type who rolls up their sleeves and shouts at teammates, but arguably the two most successful captains in our history (Ratcliffe & Labone) were nothing like that.
I notice how every Manager appears to seek Coleman’s counsel, I notice how players say how supportive he is and you will know the esteem he is held in the Irish squad. I’ve never doubted he’s a real leader. We should all be thankful for Seamus Coleman, he’s a great representative of our club and all that is good in this game.
His celebrations are the stuff of legend
Great performance yesterday and deserves all the plaudits.
Wound back the years yesterday. The goal meant so much to him. Some of the crap he has taken this season has been so unfair. Yes he is coming to the end of his premier league life, but the guy has been a legend for us.
You have to hand it to him, picking the ball up, passing it on and keep on running into their area and into the 6 yard box to nod in, what other FB have you seen do that ?
Know it’s already been posted but for me this is already one of the iconic Everton images.
A mid-season home win against Leeds might not go down in history among our biggest matches but no one knew more than this guy how important that game yesterday was.

Hearing the fans sing 60 grand was one of the highlights of the weekend for me.

. . . and your point is?3 weeks ago......
I watched the last five years. Your sample size is tiny by comparison. Coleman is utterly finished. I don't blame hím, by the way. He doesn't pick himself, but his continued presence in our team is a massive indictment of Marcel Brands and the dysfunctional incompetence that has essentially holed this club under the bow.Did you watch the last two home PL games? If you think that then you didn't.
