2021/22 Seamus Coleman

Starting to feel sorry for the lad.

Its obvious he cares he just is physically finished for the league.

Brands had 3 seasons to replace him and didnt.

Criminal by that hapless DOF.
Said this a while ago, he is, because of his attitude to the game, unable to accept that he is past his best. That stands to him, his never say die attitude has carried him a long way. The problem is with the club, Brands, Moshiri, whoever, they should have realised 2 years ago that his race was run and signed a new first choice right back allowing Seamus to become back up.

It's a great shame, because the lad has had a fine Everton career, but, the way it's going he will be remembered more for the last part of his career, rather than the days when he, and Baines were, arguably the best full back pairing in the league.

I love Seamus, but, he really can't be playing 2 games a week for the rest of the season. Due to our lack of pace at the back, Patterson, for all his rawness, has to be worth a try. If not I think we have to play Holgate or Godfrey at right back.

Hard to replace when Kenwright has probably told him he has a place for life.
And this is big part of the problem.

The culture (created by BK) is that we never make difficult decisions, just kick the can down the road + keep giving players new contracts until they literally become an embarrassment - Coleman, Jags, Hibbert.

The sentimentality is toxic.

A properly functioning \Board would be calling him to account and asking those involved to justify their decisions

Why are posters asking for him to be a coach?

The man cant organise, cant lead with instruction or by example.

He put in a great performance, his best in years the other week. His legs havent "gone" if hes able to achieve that level. It simply shows a lack of desire and effort...for that to be a one off.

Fact is that he's choosing to jog rather than run...argue with players after his mistakes...then argue with the fans.

Rallying cry after rallying cry while this "legend" (of failure) shows a high level in one match...then dials it in the rest of the time.

He can look across the defence and organise but instead runs 10 yards ahead of his team mates...gives the ball away, jogs back then blames others.

Coach? Dont make me laugh.

I absolutely love Seamus as well probably my favourite player of the last twelve years, but he was directly at fault for three of the goals last night,! Absolutely skinned by Sessegnon for the first, even with the benefit of a head start! Followed up with two woeful passes bringing the ball out of defence - both intercepted and within five seconds the ball was in the back of the net!
If giving away three goals isn’t a “giant problem” I don’t know what is?
Missing a pass in midfield isnt really giving away a goal. Any normal team would be able to deal with such. You make it sound like he sent a pass to Kane 2meters from Pickford.

@JohnRoss23 youre not fooling anyone with that number lol

He's such a "legend" lets retire the 23 shirt lol
A lot of what you say rings true but go after the club for being poorly run and not having a replacement lined up for him. Maybe they do have his replacement but why aren’t they playing someone else? You make it sound like Coleman slept with your wife or something. Getting a little hurt feelings by his performance!

He can’t play 2 games a season.
He’s definitely been in our 3 worse players this season
He’s been horrendous

He gets targeted every game. It's the sharpness and physicality that's completely gone from him.

Think Kenny has to play there from now on.
I think this sums everton up. The recruitment and management of the club over the last 5 years. John joe kenny being the other only realistic option. Its ridiculous. John joe Jenny is utter junk as well. I see some post saying he does a job. How the standards have dropped at our club that some think john joe kenny does a job.

The recruitment has been shameful. Neither player and throw another 7 or 8 characters in there should be near the squad not to mind the starting 11. This relegation battles is not just this seasons work. It has been coming due to utter bunch of marshmallows we have recruited, given contracts to, extended contracts, bought. Shame on those involved.

He might as well have done, check them out again, they weren’t in “midfield” they were on the edge of the box! I know the rest of them were garbage as well on the night but give the ball away in the positions he did and no one has the chance to reset and react, literally within seconds the ball was in the back of the night!

It has. What happened was Brands rated Kenny and expected him to replace Coleman. Send him out of loan and brought in Sidibe (who we should've bought IMO) on loan with no plan to sign permanent.

Manager changed, Holgate was out on loan at WBA (if the timeline is right) and played well at RB. So they ended up having Holgate as auxiliary RB, phased Kenny out.

Midfield was shocking (had Gome, Siggy, and Davies available) so we concentrated on that rather than defence. Hence why we only have 1 left and right back at the club for seasons and the rest are academy or make shift players.

Digne is a decent FB pairing to Seamus, but I would try to hasten Bainesy's return from the physio table. Bainsey and Peanuts are an awesome left hand side attack and it frees Seamus up to do the 'Sligo raid' down the right flank. It annoys me that Moyes denies so much expression from our extraordinary FB pairing.
