He cost £60k - half a weeks wages for some. And I recall United trying to prise him away from us. He's blue through and through and I love the fella.
He did, and when they did was when Moyes was there, wasn't it? lol

Great servant and one of the only you can say that he 100000% GETS us, but he is/was a very limited footballer and always has been.

That said - such a horrible way to play your last game ffs, what an Everton thing to happen to him.

I didn’t say he didn’t cost 60k, just that he’s always been limited and not a target for the big boys.

Did United make a bid? No, they did bid for Leighton Baines because there was genuine interest, not just speculative paper-talk.

If injury were to stop his contract being renewed it would be a really low state of affairs.
You give yiur all for years to a club and they ditch you because some dodgy oligarch screws up the club finances to such an extent that they take the opportunity to ditch you to save a few quid.
Disgusting if it happens …atleast give him a one year extension

No one at Everton will be in a position to offer anyone a contract, regardless of injury or not.

Are you happy to give Coleman a 1 year extension of 70k a week if we are in the Championship and he's out for 9 months?

I’m all for nostalgia and yes that’s the human thing to do, but is it the correct business call. To give a 34 year old who may not play again for a year/ever, a new contract earning say 50k a week, for the books this money would be better spent elsewhere.

Deserves a 1 year contract given he’d have got that without the injury. It’s actually not about nostalgia it’s about looking after the players that have served the club well. In the long run thats also a good business decision. We’ve certainly spent money in much less smart ways in recent years

Exactly the kind of Bill Kenwright luvvie sentimentality that’s gotten us where we are today.

He’s a very wealthy man as it is, he doesn’t have to worry about the gas bill.

Don’t think it would have anything to do with an oligarch. The club have screwed this sort of stuff up for years.

See how we handled the release of Hibbert and osman.

Sure there was something to do with Stubbs as well and iirc it was to do with the club trying to insert a clause in regards to his cancer.
