"Be back soon" tells me he knows he'll be playing again this season. You wont see many players urging the crowd and players on while in agony on a stretcher and ending up with no serious injury. It is no coincidence we played with more effort and passion with him on the pitch. Absolute Warrior and sadly the only one like him at the club. Be awesome if we could get him back for even the last couple of games but it is probably doubtful even for him at this point.
A true professional, a credit to himself, his club and his country. Whether he plays again this season or not, he would, in my book, still be player of the season, by a country mile. It's a pity some of the other wasters haven't taken a leaf out of his book. The club let Seamus down badly by not recruiting somebody to take over from him. He, on the other hand, has never let his club down.
Its been years since the leg break, Dave. Even before, he 'couldnt defend or cross'.Not 'over the years'...certainly since he lost half a yard after his terrible leg break. Prior to that he was lauded.

Agree with a lot of what you said, but the bold part is a bit harsh. He can't help when he was born and what era that led to him playing in. Us not winning anything in forever has absolutely nothing to do with him and everything to do with the crap teams he's been forced to play in due to the incompetence at the top of the club.Yeah, the days of jobs for the boys simply have to end if we want change.
Seamus was well paid at Everton. He owes us nothing more - but we owe him nothing more other than a duty of care now as he is still an employee and the respect he has earned as a stalwart. We don't owe him a job after he finishes. What has he to offer? Perhaps he has something that we could use. Great, if so, but he has to be the best qualified person for that job - not another Bill Kenwright appointee.
And we also need to be quite honest about the signal it sends out to our young players if we put players who have won nothing on pedestals. Neville Southall - admittedly, a spiky fellow - is almost exorcised from the club's history. Yet, lads who never came within an ass's roar of a medal are being celebrated?
Nah, not for me.
