2022/23 Seamus Coleman

I think before his injury that Nathan Patterson was the number one right back at this club, but Seamus now has an opportunity to win his shirt back.

If Seamus keeps playing well, then it would be unfair to drop him when Patterson is fit and raring to go again. It's all up to Seamus now i think, if he fails to avail of this opportunity, then he can have no complaints when he's put back on the bench again.
He's got it back. He's the skipper and he's the number one RB at the club. Patterson filled in for him and did very well in the last 3 games of the 7 he played.

If Seamus has a howler of a couple of matches or gets injured then Patterson is back in.

But the senior man and experienced player is going to slot into a more solid back four unit than we had last season and it will be difficult short of injury to dislodge him.

Seamus may be getting a little long in the tooth, but his knack of knowing where to be and when to be there, is going to very handy for us. He may not be our #1 anymore, but he will be invaluable as a backup.
He was more threatening in one match yesterday than Patterson has been for the previous 7 games. Coleman will get in the box a lot more than him. That's a side of Patterson's game that has to be improved on as well as being positionally in the right place to defend - it's his athleticism that's got him out of trouble there so far, but I think he's paid for it by putting his body through it and it breaking down.

You just don’t make any sense. You keep creating strange narratives about Patterson that don’t exist.

Off the top of my head Patterson had a great goal scoring opportunity against leeds, another fantastic one against liverpool when he burst into the box. Don’t think seamus did anything more attacking than that yesterday…so your argument is just wrong aint it?

That's in 7 games, and are virtually the only times he's ventured into the opposition box.

Seamus is much more aggressive in his attitude to getting at his opposing FB.

Thought he done alright but you always fear a bad game in him is around the corner.

I fear for him in the upcoming two games tbh.

Utds wide players have rinsed him over the years and then Son/Richy away at Spurs if he comes out the other end having not put a foot wrong it'll be massive for him.

Oh boy you are going to be utterly fuming and I for one can’t wait.

So clueless.

Coleman will never be first choice RB for us again thankfully. Decent back up to have but the minute Patterson is back he'll be back in the first 11
