He was normal defensively and as bad as we know he can be on the ball going forward. I don’t blame him for being up the pitch when we get turned over unexpectedly for that 2nd goal. I honestly don’t see him much different than performances a couple yrs ago.

I think an unexpected return to a poor midfield tonight saw the back line exposed more than it has been

…just as Mykolenko was caught unexpectedly for the 1st goal.

As you say, the back four were fine when ‘set’ but when you lose possession like that against a top team, they punish you. It’s the difference really, I doubt we score from those situations.

We might be getting there but not there yet.

We will often get punished if we lose posession going forward, but i'd much rather the midfielders try to be brave and it's risky, rather than boring sideways or backwards football. With more pace in midfield and defence, we might sometimes recover and save the goal, but none of our defenders are equipped to stop the top PL forwards running at them with pace. Suddenly the defence looks weak on days like this, and it just shows our entire team needs to click for us to do well this year. Next year, if we add confience plus 1-2 better players again, we might get away with a draw or win in matches like this.
