2022/23 Seamus Coleman

Last paragraph let's you down there IMO.

Patterson is an appalling choice for RB.

He should only be seen as an emergency wide player for when McNeil is out.

The lad has contributed heavily to why we're in this mess with his error strewn defending.

Coleman will retain his position because when we're getting at teams he can add to the attacking threat as well as playing a part in a low block when we dont have the ball and are pinned back. There is STILL no other player in this squad who can offer that, however irregular he is at doing that these days.

What the hell have you been watching????

Take a look on this thread. I've seen Patterson, Holgate and even Godfrey being touted as a better bet than Coleman.

It's ridiculous.

Now that you've finally sacked the fat Tory and brought in a manager that knows how to set up a team, it'll be 'bye bye Coleman' and Patterson will finally be able to perfom in a proper formation with proper instruction.

The boy was almost ruined under Lampard.

As for Coleman. I felt really sorry for him last night. It's not his fault he's past it and has been for a long, long time.

coleman was up there with the best one or two right backs in the league for a 5-6 year period. He needs replacing now for sure but we dont have anyone capable to do the job. Sad times.

Because Coleman is the worst footballer in the Premier League, not because the others are good.

Really? And you're accusing me of spouting rubbish?

Coleman has the nous to be a decent fill in.

He’s overexposed at his age week in week out.

He did not have the physicality to match the attackers he was lined up against.
None of the defence were really. And it was a poor set up considering we know how much pace they have.

Coleman played a key part in both their goals though (as did others).

Seems ludicrous from the outside, this. We really don’t know, but all you ever hear is how professional and hard working he is. Plus he is always there backing his teammates when it kicks off, unlike Jagielka who would hide. Phil Neville sat on the team bus thinking our players should sign for Man United and said 10th is a magnificent achievement for a club like Everton.

There’s no way he’s worse than them two.

He is far worse than Neville imo, Neville actually had an influence on the pitch that you could see when he didn’t play. That team had steel, grit and fighting spirit, a lot of that for me comes from the captain on the pitch. This team is a soft touch that crumbles under the slightest hint of pressure. Coleman has never been captain material for me and only has the armband because he’s been here ages. It was the same with Jagielka.

He gets angry occasionally, but like on Monday, it was only after Pickford and then Coady did anything.

It’s faux “passion”, it’s only ever when there’s already a big crowd involved and only ever when we’re losing late on. I’ve never seen him front someone up one on one, never seen him question a referee, never seen him pull a young player to one side and give him some advice or keep his head up. Only ever seen him run into a melee of players when it’s all already kicking off. That’s not a captain.

I like Seamus Coleman (like others on here) but when Nathan Patterson is fit and ready to go, he replaces Coleman, simple as that.
Hopefully Dyche sees it the same way. He has a history of playing more experienced defenders and it takes a lot for him to change his back line. Maybe Coleman himself has a word with him, said himself it's Patterson's place now

I've seen those things quite a few times. 'Faux' Passion is doing it everytime just to please fans that think thats the only way to lead. He does it enough
