2022/23 Seamus Coleman

You think if we'd have played Holgate against Arsenal he'd have done as well as Coleman?

Pffft!

Patterson is tat - a point he proved over multiple games this season. He cost us individually around 8/9 points with his atrocious positioning.
Coleman had one of his better games against Arsenal, but, so did the whole team. I thought Coleman was a very good player over the years, but unfortunately, his best years are long behind him, over a run of let's say 5 games, either Patterson or Holgate would be caught out far fewer times. I know you love Seamus, but, his time is gone.

Anyone who has experience of seeing all three at RB and comes to the conclusion that even now when he's past his best Coleman isn;t the best one we have isnt paying attention.

Holgate is a dog of a player. Patterson is a terrible RB with zero aptitude for it.

He was good player in his pomp.
Not his fault our recruitment has been appalling.
But the worst Everton captain I can remember.
To be fair he took over from Jagielka who had boot laces that needed tying every time there was any sign of aggro or a decision went against us.

He is what he is now. A player who can pull out a decent performance now and then but doesn’t have the consistency. The injury to Patterson is killing us.

I’d put Godfrey or Holgate at right back until Patterson returns. 10 years ago Coleman was probably the best right back in the league but he’s been a liability for ages now.

He’s never ever ever been this, 10 years ago Zabaleta was in his prime.

Sorry Dave, I'm back to disagreeing with you, as much as I wish it was not so, Coleman in 2023 is the third best option of them.

Which of those people with the experience is saying that, as it seems you're just quoting yourself here.

If Coleman is in a back 4 with 3 other athletic defenders he would be ok as there would be better cover. When he’s playing alongside 3 fellow slow defenders then he’s left exposed. Patterson offers more attacking threat and Godfrey more pace so I’d have them playing as full backs.

Ahhh I didn’t realise this, good to see Adam Lallana was the best right winger in the league then also.

the fact he’s in that team showed he was one of the best right wingers in the league that season.

There’s also the use of the word ‘probably’ in the sentence ‘probably the best right back in the league’ it allows room for interpretation and different opinion. Whereas ‘never’ doesn’t. But then again when you’re never wrong about anything ever why not just state every opinion you have as fact.
