See you'll not find anything close to that level of nastiness to describe an Everton player in the Patterson thread compared to the abuse Seamus got in here. It waa balanced, polite criticism at most.

Actually I'd argue it wasn't even "criticism" for me. I think the kid is young and very raw. I said he sometimes makes mistakes like you'd expect for a young player. And I thought we'd paid over the odds for such a prospect when what we need is someone match ready. That's all I've ever said.

Assuming he stays he needs to be off to a Championship team for a season to learn the game. Bring in a starting right back over the summer and keep Coleman on for one more season as back-up.

Then in the summer after next Seamus retires and, if good enough, Patterson comes back to challenge for the position.
Lies

With all the half-assed players that have passed through the club in his time, forgotten and retired on the money we gave them - here he is still fighting to keep the club up.

Earned a stay as a coach if we can keep him, easy.

Works his nether regions off

Physically I'm not sure how much longer he can do this for, but mentality wise he has covered himself in honour and dignity the past few seasons

He cares, he puts the effort in and he can still go for the most part

He's not the long term option going forwards (that's Patterson) but I would absolutely keep him on the playing staff for next season if he's physically capable of delivering another season

But Patterson hasn't yet shown the quality to suggest he can't step up (in my honest opinion). I want to give the lad a chance but suggest he needs a loan move to play regularly and show what he can do.

Lols. So long time club servant with a career of top flight footy doesn't deserve the chance to coach? Obviously he then has to show he has the skill and the metal but surely he deserves the initial opportunity
