But Patterson hasn't yet shown the quality to suggest he can't step up (in my honest opinion). I want to give the lad a chance but suggest he needs a loan move to play regularly and show what he can do.

Lols. So long time club servant with a career of top flight footy doesn't deserve the chance to coach? Obviously he then has to show he has the skill and the metal but surely he deserves the initial opportunity

Patterson will be fine

Get him a pre-season under Dyche and keep him healthy, and he'll be ready for next season

Not a single doubt IMO

I'm a long time worker in the IT industry and have been for quite a while, at a high level.

I deserve a shot at a Google admin job, you're right.

That's the wrong analogy.

If you'd put in say a dozen years at Google as a top exec and done well (ie by being kept on, given new contracts and promoted to "captain") then yes on your retirement from Google it wouldn't seem odd that they offered you a chance for a role with their training academy (on relatively nominal money).

What you've described is as if Joey Jones who's spent a lifetime in the lower leagues automatically gets to come to goodison for a job.

Well as we never took to Sammy Lee or Benitez so I couldn’t see Joey Jones’ appointment going down particularly well.

Sorry but how does any of this sentence make sense. Is this what happens when you retire in the importing & exporting of subatomic particles industry?

Do you work for google? If so and a job is available then I’d imagine you’d stand a good chance of getting it seen as tho you’ve been working at a high level for so long.
