Carlo Ancelotti Cruelly Shuts Down Seamus Coleman To Bayern Munich

A rather surreal moment took place at Bayern Munich's official pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to London to face Arsenal in the Champions League this week, as the name of Ireland's captain popped up out of nowhere.

Since last may, German giants Bayern Munich have been linked with Everton right-back Seamus Coleman as the need for a Philip Lahm replacement has become more and more apparent, so now with the World Cup winner definitely retiring in the summer, maybe it's time for Seamus to make the move to the Bundesliga giants?

No. No it's not.

After an Irish journalist asked the question directly, Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti gave a blunt response which drew laughs from most in attendance.

An Irish journalist asks if Ancelotti is looking at Seamus Coleman as a possible replacement for Lahm. He gives a one-word answer: "No."

Was the eruption of laughter really necessary? Poor Seamus!

In all seriousness, the reaction was for Ancelotti's blunt dismissal of transfer talk ahead of a Champions League tie, and the thought of Coleman moving to the Bavarian giants isn't that amusing. He's well capable.

He is also committed to Everton, however, so a move this summer is unlikely. As nice as it would be to see Coleman play Champions League football, the solidity he has at Goodison Park hasn't done him any harm so far.

Coleman tries his damndest every match. His final cross can be wayward. I presume Koeman is working on this.

they are woeful aren't they but every now and then he puts a pearler in. I'd be surprised if this side of his game gets any better because it's always been poor and has never shown any sign of improvement.

I guess that's just one part of his game we've got to accept because there's other parts that are excellent.

The rumour was mental to begin with. We're fairly starved of talent on these isles, our press leap on great players like Seamus like they're the second coming of Jesus

he's a top top man eggs, been an absolute star with a young kid my wife knows ( knows the kids mum ). Won't say any more than that other than to say he's been absolutely brilliant and I'd shake that man's hand and tell him how much respect I've got for him as a person.

..I'm not surprised, Matey. He seems a decent lad and as I always say he plays as though footy matters to him. I'm chuffed he's at our club, he's made of the right stuff.

We Evertonian's are hard task masters aren't we. All our players have to be absolutely bloody perfect to earn our approval.

Problem is, if they were all so perfect they most probably wouldn't even be playing for us.

Worst one for this is Ross. If he was as good as some people want him to be he'd honestly be the best player in the world.

I think he's been the best right back in the league this year. The fact that our press our pin-holing him into these such rumours probably confirms this.

I like it though mate, important to be demanding as a supporter and all we've ever asked for ( well to my knowledge and personal experience ) is that they give 100% every game. If they do that then 9 times out of 10 they will walk off to applause and appreciation. In fact most footy fans will say the same about their club. Lack of effort and desire is the biggest wind up for all of us isn't it.

Be demanding of them, they should be demanding of each other and hopefully somewhere down the line that will bring success.

Coleman is a fantastic FB. In my mind the best RB I've seen in my 55 years watching the Blues. I keep reading how he has weaknesses in his defending. Show me a RB who hasn't.

It begs the question Does the coach work on the weaker aspects of the players? Does he get Coleman to stay behind after training and practise those moves or does he just accept the player as a package warts and all?
