Huge step up in form for our full backs yesterday - fingers crossed more of the same for the rest of the season

Great game yesterday. I think he needs Lennon badly in order to do anything in games these days though. I think that's what's keeping Deulofeu out of the starting line up, which obviously is not ideal.

Lennon drifted to the left for the second goal and is doing so increasingly recently - think there might be some potential there long-term.

Its a shame that del is out, he also not ideal for a sub when we are leading either, maybe he should be given a go on the left or replace Barkley as a sub for the last 20 minutes

I think he does like to cut inside from the right though - his signature move. I'd be loathe to shift him from in front of Coleman.

I'd try Deulofeu in Barkley's position and drop him back alongside McCarthy or Besic in the coming games when Barry is out.

Yeah, I mentioned above that he could deputise for Barkley.

I wouldn't play Deulofeu and Baines together. We'd be over run down that side by any decent counter attacking team.

Good call - I'd even put Barkley on the left, Del through the middle and Lennon on the right in some of the remaining games where, lets face it, it's going to be difficult bar at Anfield not to imagine many saving legs for the big games.

Ultimately we will have to move Barkley out of his current position in the summer to accommodate Wayne Rooney ;)

I think Rooney would be a good addition to this team now. Two season's ago he'd have been a returning superstar and we'd have built around him. Not anymore. I'd welcome him back, but he'd be far from the superstar of this team we have now.

Deulofeu and Coleman on the right.

Lennon and Baines on the left.

I think that would be well balanced.
D'you think Coleman links well with Deulofeu? I wish it were so, because it looks increasingly the case that Coleman only functions with Lennon's workrate around him. He;d have been up against it yesterday with Kenedy if Lennon hadn't have stepped in and pressed the lad back.

The testimonial pre-season was a hint of how he would function in this setup - and it looked very promising.

No need to build around him as I genuinely believe it is already tailor-made - surrounded by pace and a striker in front of him who plays on the shoulder of the defender. Not to mention two water-carriers behind.

Won't happen sadly but it would be the signing to take us and the current system up a level.
