Seamus Coleman

Seamus has a chance of playing for the Republic this week :)

Means he should be available and in contention for a place in the squad for Sunderland.

Considering how well Holgate's been doing, he shouldn't walk straight back in to the side IMO

That being said, I think he'll duly impress in training and will be back in eventually. Big season for Seamus this. Hopefully Koeman gets him back to his best
I agree, but I thought the same about Galloway last year, and it was pretty much strictly Baines/Oviedo once they got healthy. In fact I guess that continued into this year!

Edit: I'm aware Holgate's way better than Galloway, just drawing a parallel.

I think Martinez often went with reputation over form

Look at the situation with Robles and Howard

Howard was having an iffy season, Robles came in and did well, but Howard was still #1

Considering it looks like Koeman is going to be sticking with Stekky after his early decent form in the League suggests that he might be a bit different in that regard

it won't do Holgate any harm to have a bit of a rest when Seamus is back to full fitness, let him reflect on a few things. He's proper competition for Seamy though who needs to get back to the form he once had. I'm sure the boss will sort him out

If he trains for Ireland I imagine he'll be in contention for the squad - especially since it's a Monday game so an extra few days recovery.

Would stick with Holgate myself for the time-being, no need to risk Seamus until he's fully fit.

fit to start for ireland tonight. does he come straight back in on monday or holgate keep his place?

Assuming he will be fit after tonight, will be a tough one. If RK sticks with Holgate, then Seamus is basically being told he is out until injuries or form affect Holgate.

If he does play, it tells Holgate the level he needs to get to.

Either way, nice problem to have I guess.
