Oh wind your neck in!

I usually defend all kinds of players on here. I think he could have done better with the challenge on Benteke, he left him way too much space initially and couldn't recover on time.

No kicking off, no wanting to burn an effigy of him, just a simple comment that I personally thought he could have done better for the goal.

Is that OK with you?
Knock yourself out with your nonsense posts. Taken on board and quickly forgotten

After seeing his header on goal, I do believe he'd be better off going back to Fred Karnos. No. Not Benteke! Coleman!
Do us a favour, send Oviedo as well, as I'm getting some stick from that thread as well.

Coleman isn't the first player to get done by 6'4 inch Benteke on a header...

So its nonsense to say that a player who doesnt match up to another player physically can make up for this by taking up a better position?

He wasnt marking him closely enough and by the time he reacted he got caught under the ball. Its pretty basic stuff.

Doesnt make him a bad player or anything, just in my opinion he was a bit slack in that instance and could have done better. His defensive positioning has always been suspect to me but he makes up for it with good attacking play.

True but he didnt seem to try and put himself in a position to bother Benteke...

Have to say, hes looking as useless as he has done for 2 seasons...

Should never have dropped Holgate.

Typical Koeman...

I agree with the bit about not dropping holgate

Rubbish. Coleman came back from that injury and looked fine - and then looked back to his best vs Boro.

He got caught out for Benteke's header in terms of his positioning - by the time he reacted it was already too late.

Hmm... when else did that happen? Oh yeh, Holgate doing the same thing vs Spurs for Lamela's goal...

While I agree Holgate was playing well, he was a young centre-half playing out of position. Coleman's performed just fine, and is looking dangerous going forward as well. You've just got blinkers on because he's over the age of 26 x

watch it again. Its as good a header you will see and Coleman could not have done anymore. Leave it there shall we.

let's be honest here. coleman is great at moving forward and making his clever runs on the right. This makes him much more exciting to the eye and when we pay against weaker opponents, the opponent falls back and not threaten our flank that much.

But when we play with quicker movement teams and fas wingers, Coleman gets caught out. He has not been the best full back for a few seasons now, often reading the defensive game a little slower or being out of position.

I have not seen enough of Holgate but i think his reading of the defensive game is better than Coleman.

Firstly it was a great header and well executed. But, We have two strapping center backs, marking one player ( Benteke). When he peels off to the back post surely one of them should go with him rather than passing him on to Coleman?

Coleman's defending has improved loads mate. He got caught out on Friday and by the time he reacted, it was too late.

The main issue is probably that we didn't stop the cross at source though - and that's an issue that's been prevalent for the last few years whoever has been at full-back.

Miss the coleman that was willing to try and beat his man, get to the line and put a ball in with his stronger foot,
Every single time now he seems to get into decent areas only to slow down, pass it back, or come inside onto his weaker left foot,
Lack of confidence or poor coaching and instructions?
