Its taken until now for somebody to have the guts to day it. Anyone else would have been hung drawn and quartered for that clearance.

Just sayin.

Haha i know took me a while to find this thread. Imagine if it had been Bolasie or Martina who had cleared it

I suppose if it had been one of those it would have been just the latest in a long line of cock ups for them, whereas Seamus, in the main, has been brilliant for us and he is not long back off a lengthy lay off so he's perhaps deservedly afforded some slack.

It was a terrible clearance though.

Don't do it again Seamus.

Yes, because unlike the other two Seamus has built up some credibility with his actual good play so we can get past the odd mistake. The other two aren’t forgiven as much because they’ve built up no level of goodwill with the fans by being terrible. Keep in mind I’ve defended both of them, but we’re past that now.

Without Sigurdsson in the side Everton's two playmakers have basically been Baines & Coleman.

Which worked against Stoke, but failed in every other match against City/Liverpool/Swansea.

Rooney & Davies simply aren't adequate, thus putting more pressure on our fullbacks to deliver in attack.

Bolasie & Walcott possess zero playmaking ability and aren't nearly as calm & composed as Baines/Coleman.

Our midfielders barring Sigurdsson lose the ball too frequently, and rarely pass forward. So our 'true' at the moment playmakers are our fullbacks.

Next season I'd like to see our XI like this:

With Gylfi centrally & Lookman/Walcott on the wings and two good DM's we'd get the best out of our fullbacks.

Our defense has been solid since they both returned, our biggest problem has been our attack by far.

To be fair, the whole team defended horribly bad, at least Coleman tried to get it away, Keane’s always shying away from the ball and Jags is too slow now.

I wasn't having a go at Seamus. He's my favourite player and every player, at some stage makes a mistake that becomes decisive. It's just that nobody on here mentioned it, either in this thread or even the match thread (other than a throwaway one liner from Joey).

Compare that to DCL in the derby. He came on with 25 to go and completely changed the game. He had, imo, his best minutes since the turn of the year but then missed a good chance at the end. There was probably 10 pages of criticism on his thread plus countless others on the match thread.

The response to the errors, both costing us 2 points, on this forum have been polar opposite and thats what I find hard to understand.

As has been said, it's the amount of credit someone has in the bank which dictates the criticism.

Many people don't believe DCL scores enough and lacks a striker's instinct, so when he misses a golden chance in a big game, it goes some way to confirming people's fears and leads to them coming on to say he isn't good enough. Coleman is not generally renowned for being poor at clearing the ball from our box, so it gets put down to a rare error rather than confirmation of a weakness.

I get that mate and perhaps I should have said its the scale of the disparity I find hard to understand. Absolute zero criticism for Seamus and off the scale for DCL.

Guess its just the world we live in.

I’d like Jagielka and Baines nowhere near it.

Oh I get where you're coming from, was surprised myself seeing that yesterday was the first post regarding the incident.

Was just offering an explanation as to why this might be.

If someones made a mistake it should be mentioned whether it was Coleman, Bolasie, Baines whoever but to think oh its Coleman so its fine is silly

No one said it’s fine. But you’re not going to get the same reaction because he’s got some goodwill built up. Simple as.

If you dont understand how trust in others works in the case of forgiving mistakes, and how their past actions greatly effect it, Im not sure we can help.

Evertonians have to have three or four players to hate on! Its always been that way!
