Who is the captain was never something people were arsed about in days gone by, they actually do nowt after the toss. Should be Coleman though.

The Captain has always been important & still is...

The Captain is the heart beat of the team, he keeps things moving & controls the game & his players...

When you are captain, you are never speaking for yourself...

Talent wins games, but teamwork & intelligence wins championships...

Couldn't agree less, how does the bold bit work if the captain is the keeper (which is common) ? Its important in other sports (e.g. cricket) but in football is simply a figurehead, he does not control anything, that's the managers job. Yes we want passion, discipline, determination etc. but that should come from all players regardless of being captain or not. FFS, we had Phil Neville as captain for yonks, its the players/managers that matter most.

Not many keepers have been good captains, not many keepers have been captains...

Most good teams will have a good captain a leader to carry the team through the good & bad periods of the game, the captain is amongst the battle on the pitch & can lead the team to victory, the manager has to watch from the sidelines & shout instructions that often are not heard, the manager will rely on his captain to bring the team through to victory.

A team needs to be lead, the captain is an important part of any successful team...

Remember this...

Management is doing things right, Leadership is doing the right things...

Having Kenny instead of Seamus for 30 odd games must have cost us about 10 points. Genuinely don't think that's much of an exaggeration. Different class.

Gonna be gutted when Jagielka runs out first game of the season with that armband on.

I can only conclude that @RobC Nesbitt has been on the ale if he think making Seamus captain wouldn't have a positive impact on the team and fans.

Say what you will about Phil Neville, but he was a good captain. A better captain than player, I would say.

Phil Jagielka is our captain.
“Well, you know haha, hopefully we can nick a goal and get a couple of points on the board today. Burnley are a tough team and we’ll have to be at our best. Hopefully we can get a little run together and you never know we might even end up in the top half. There’s a great set of lads here. Really good lads”.

We shall see, making a positive impact on the team does not require anybody to be captain, Seamus is pretty quiet so I would think he would be more the "lead by example" type of captain but I couldn't really care who is captain, after the toss its job done.

Erm, if Talent wins games, then surely talent also wins championships? However, if teamwork and intelligence wins championships, talent isn't required?

Talk about the standard blurb in a motivational poster ;)

So confused.

Statement about Everton FC captaincy

19 June 2018
"Even if we cannot guarantee Phil a game every week, he is and will continue to be our Club Captain. His values and influence on the field are irreplacable and it'd be wrong of us to change Captains simply due to a new management team being in place. We hope this firmly puts any speculation to bed about Phil either being sold or demoted from being Club Captain." Plus he is the best lace-tier we've ever had in our history laaaads hahah
