2017/18 Seamus Coleman

Coleman has been our best outfield player since he returned.

Of course, Silva may have different ideas for his wing-backs and new faces both sides. Who can say?

I'd be shocked if he wasn't in Silva's plans

Disregarding the fact he's already one of our best players, if Silva ostracised Coleman then he'd lose most of the fan base almost instantly

Coleman is one of our most popular players and I'm willing to bet most of us would not countenance an Everton without him and would not be pleased at all if Silva decided to cast him adrift. If Silva doesn't already know that, someone within the club will most assuredly educate him

Coleman ticks all the boxes for us but we don't manage the team.

Depends. If he bought in a new boss right back i'd certainly be ok.

But of course Coleman will be playing every week.

Silva and Brands have far more concerns than our right back position which is of course, no concern at all.

It'd be a weird place for him to try and improve though. Coleman is one of maybe three players in our first 11 that I feel confident don't need improving (Pickford and Walcott being the other two).

That's literally what I said after the highlighted bit wasn't it?

Certain players are cowed by the responsibilities of captaincy, others are confident enough to take the role on without breaking stride. However, a few, a rare few who are confident anough to take the role are also improved by taking it. i believe that Coleman may well be one of those rare few!

I'[m not sure if it's been mentioned yet but I believe Silva and Brands have far more concerns than our right back position (which isn't really a concern at all).

Antonee Robinson on the USA v Ireland game ...

"Seamus ran over to me when we were on the pitch warming up and said he was made up for me and to keep working hard.

“It meant the world to me but it was nothing I would not expect from him. I have known him for a few years now and he is a top man on and off the pitch.

“It does mean a lot. He is an established international. But I know he is a good lad as well.”

Make this man captain already!!
