Still have to finish the job though regardless of how rubbish other teams were. And without the points deduction....it's a point less than Carlos first season with more issues and less money spent.
Carlos first season? You mean when he was hired in the December with us at threat of relegation? Made zero signings in the January window and got us comfortably safe?

Not sure that’s the boast you think it is about a manager having a full pre season, making signings and then managing a team for the full season.

I think Dyche had a lot of responsibility that should not of been on his shoulders . He was the frontman for questions on ownership, point deductions and everything Everton . He didn’t have money to spend and we were limited to buying players with favourable terms regarding up front payments . The money spend on Chermiti and OBrien was questionable when we needed players for now . His recent criticism of Branthwaite while saying DCL did well in the same game was baffling and suggested to me he would be quite happy sacked and paid until the end of the season anyway .
However the bottom line is football is a results game and he got paid 100k a week to get them . His idea of a result though was a 0-0 draw and if the other team scored the game was up .
Hopefully Moyes will get the players performing at a higher level and will also get some help in this window which he will need and surely would have been of any agreement to come on board.
Overall I think this is a big step forward and look forward to seeing some improvement in the football played and the results ..COYB 💙

Wasn't a boast it was putting into context the upturn in points from a specific point where things started to wobble behind the scenes.

Note...wed already spent £100+mill in the summer.

But you are comparing two different things.

Saying that Dyche’s full season where he had brought in his own players and had a full pre season was only a point worse than Carlos “first season” ignoring that Carlos “first season” where he only managed 20 games, spent no money and had a ppg of 1.4 while starting players like holgate, Davies, delph and Keane is disingenuous. (As you put no context into Carlos “first season”).

Dyche got a decent points total last season, certainly based on the year before and with dealing with the points deductions. But if you want to compare the two (as pointless as that is), at least use comparable seasons. (Ie, compare their half seasons together or compare their full seasons).

Wasn't comparing the two managers in isolation, was comparing the last point of something respectable upwards from a worst position (financially and squad)

54 - Silva
49 - Silva/Carlo
59 - Carlo
39 - Benitez/Lampard
36 - Lampard/Dyche
40 (48) - Dyche

There was a stability he brought back last season that's been dismissed based on the last 5 months

Not sure anyone’s dismissed it, it was a decent total and we were ultimately very comfortably safe. He did a decent job. But it’s not really stability is it? Considering 6 months later, we are right back to where we were when he took over.

The original poster said the sole reason we stayed up was mainly because there were 3 worse teams. Like it was a given wed stay up regardless.

Managers get judged on the season prior for the most part. So there is stability you can get out of the squad based on that. Dyche gave up this season.

I mean the league was turbo garbage. We could have lost the 4 games we won from the last 6 games and still stayed up. So there is an element of luck that it was so poor as well but he navigated us through that.

The fact he couldn’t see a way forward this year despite having seen his way through last season just tells me he wanted the money from getting sacked.

I get your point, and to an extent you're right. Yet, while some will throw it around wildly because it sounds edgy or whatever, it is originally rooted in logic.

If you're struggling to score goals to win games, you would ideally want to be creating opportunities from a variety of players and scenarios etc. etc.

Anyone who has watched us play as of late knows we looked unlikely to score, and that is partly down to the way we play in the final third of the pitch.

When we're having to rely on goals from certain 'Dyche style' situations, and even then it's not working efficiently, it's not unjust to bring it up as a statistic.

Moyes may not be the option I'd have chosen, but I am looking forward to us at least trying to score some goals and not primarily from lumped balls forward.
The problem is if you are going to lump balls forward, you need to push the midfield players up in order to win the second ball and have players that can break with pace.
We possessed very little of either. McNeil has probably been a big miss because he can occasionally produce a moment of magic
