2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

So what is it? Dyche not good enough to...get the same amount of points he got last season? After 9 games.

What's the benchmark for a disgusting dinosaur manager? Can't be what he did last season if he's that bad, can it?
9 games is a quarter of a season. I get when it was 4 games people saying it wasn't a fair sample but 25% of all of our games must be getting close to a point where we can say this is how it is? If not how many games is enough games to be a fair sample?

This is untrue.

You say “ the ones right at the centre of it “ have wanted every manager out and post nothing positive.

Lampard was universally backed by virtually everyone on the whole forum, with the notable exceptions of the forums very own Josef Stalin and the forums very own Maharishi Yogi ( who by some strange coincidence are also two of the most banned posters on the forum )

This universal backing for Frank continued, even when it became obvious that he was failing and was on his way out.

The difference was, that albeit Lampards footballing methods ultimately failed, the fans could see what he was trying to do, he engaged with the fans and made every effort to get them on board with him.

This bought him time and even towards the end, very few were calling for his head, even though it was obvious that something had to give, as we were in big trouble.

So this notion of yours, that there’s some kind of cabal of posters on here, who are actively waiting and wanting to do each and every manager in just isn’t true.
I think he means you, @nsno-chris, and @MikeH72. He wants to fight you all at Morrisons.

I honestly believe as players got fitter and tactics evolved the old Italian anti football became obsolete. It turned in to the Spanish rapier style slice them open sort of game for the elite clubs, relentless pressing. Sitting back against the likes of Manchester City would be suicide.

City have unlimited money. If you play against a team of world class all stars using front foot attacking football you will lose 99/100 games.

Look at what Mourinho did at Madrid and Inter...anti-football to try and level the playing field against those types of sides.

He didnt do too badly.

Dyche must have more than an inkling that he's off in the summer. He will be thinking of his next move. In his head keeping Everton up every season will look good on his CV and should get him another Premier League club. G0d knows what they must be doing in training though as they look utterly clueless going forward. But he won't care if they continue to grind out results.

Dyche has a big ego just like Allardyce. They will believe they can take the team into glory whether or not its possible.

It’s on the manager this style and approach. Players can adapt to different styles, they are professional footballers and are more than capable of pass and move on the deck and not just hoofing it to an isolated striker. Martinez did it with a Moyes team . Martinez also did it with a Swansea league 1 team that were used to hoofing it under Kenny Jacket. Sh**e league one players who suddenly started playing exciting football out from the back on the deck and being printed through the divisions… so our current team are more than capable of playing a more expansive front foot style… just need the right manager

A team consisting of Mykolenko, Tarkowski, Young, Harrison, Gana, DCL & Doucoure can play effective pass and move football?

Probably wouldnt be that effective I reckon. The premier league is a different animal -- we'd be like Ipswich were against us.

This is a Dyche-created narrative that I don’t buy into whatsoever. We are a mid table team as shown last season. This league is crap and full of dross, we should not be scrapping with the likes of Ipswich and Leicester.

Whats wrong with Dyche having us midtable? Are half our 11 yesterday better than midtable, or are they bottom of the table types?

Plays like Royle 😂😂😂😂😂 I stopped reading after that.

Then you probably need a hypnotist to bring back some memories. Dyche has at times used front foot attacking football while our midfield has hunted in pairs.

Not often, but its happened.

So, fourth-worst then. I don't need to spin that. Our players will do that for us.

And the narrative you talk about wasn't spun by Dyche - who definitely prospers from it. It was created by Frank Lampard who proved how bad these players can be. And since then we have actually sold most of the more valuable ones... Diminishing returns.

Dyche has no future at the club. 40% possession against Fulham at home isn't acceptable. But make no mistake - our players are footballing doggerel. We may be better than Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester (over the long haul), but I don't see this squad as anything other than a collection of dross, cobbled together in a crisis by multiple managers in the most chaotic era of of our modern history.

Once we are safe this season, I don't care. THEN we can restart. Moshiri out, Dyche out, Thelwell out, squad OUT!

But it’s just not the 4th worst squad is it?

Why is our squad worse than Bournemouth’s? They lost their 20 goal a season striker in the summer. We kept hold of our best player and starting centre forward, and sold a midfielder who the manager didn’t rate anyway and replaced him with two more midfielders.

Why is it worse than Wolves’ squad? They’ve also sold off everything bar the kitchen sink in the last few years, Neves, Nunes, Neto, Kilman, Jota and many others have been sold to fund their business and keep them in line with FFP. In fact they brought in more money than us this summer just gone. So how are we worse than them?

Palace sold two of their talismans in Andersen and Olise over the summer. That’s the equivalent of us selling Branthwaite and Pickford. Why is our squad worse than theirs overall?

Fulham lost Palhinha and Tosin this summer and have also let Mitrovic go in the past couple of years and replaced him with bargain bin players like Jimenez and Muniz. Why aren’t they desperately hunkering down and looking to scramble above Ipswich?

Brentford lost Ivan Toney and Raya. I could go on. Don’t know where this narrative that we’re the only team that has had to sell players has come from. It’s probably come from Dyche tbh.

They won’t
Dave ofc knows there isn’t a cat in hells chance of this, which is why he’s free to EdgeLord it to the max on this question

We have, unlike them, recruited in a blind panic brought on by existential crisis. We haven't carefully played the recruitment game like Bournemouth or Brentford have. We have sold as much of the family silver as we could get away with given our traditional expectations (which dwarf those of Bournemouth or Wolves). That's been yet another brake on good recruitment, because selling Pickford or Branthwaite might actually have IMPROVED us if we had a proper recruitment department who could be relied on to do good, methodical work, and upgrade squad value through sales.

We have a 96-year-old playing full-back for Heaven's sake. His replacement is 102! Our squad has been systematically degraded over the last five years. Emergency circumstances have dictated our recruitment - not careful, methodical, planning with the intention of improving the squad and increasing its value.

Whether or squad is better or worse than those sides is irrelevant. One thing's for sure: we are right down there with those clubs in terms of realistic expectation - survival - and BELOW them in terms of what has been spent on the squad in the last five years.

I remember Royle very well best football I’ve seen in 30yrs. Even when he took over in the bottom 3 he didn’t play the we’re crap card and let’s just sit back every week and hope to survive, even in that first season, we beat Utd twice, Newcastle twice, Liverpool, Chelsea away, Leeds, battered spurs in the cup. Drew away at Arsenal and Liverpool. And you’re comparing that to dyche, who sets up not to lose,
Has won one game from 1
Nil down and averages 35% possession and a goal a game through his whole career

This is on the manager for A) bringing that player to the football club and B) ignoring the younger options that continue to sit and rot on the bench week in week out. So another narrative that he’s conveniently spun that we have no possible alternatives and his hands are tied.

Crazy how far people will bendover backwards to make excuses for this manager.

His football is dire, his personality is dire, he has no actual attacking patterns of play.

This squad isnt one of the worst in the league, and is capable of more than what it is showing despite how much the cult of dyche want to tell you hes working miracles.

Massively overpaid, to do the quite literal bare minimum, and even then he scraps by doing that.

We cannot, and will not improve until he goes.

Revisionism at its finest

Obviously it’s all entirely subjective.
But despite the frustration in my posts , I no longer get angry at the game , just mind numbingly bored.
Judging by the crowd noise ( or lack thereof) it’s a growing apathy shared by many .
Despite this I will shortly be booking train tickets to travel to the West Ham game , addiction is a strange thing especially when the reward is so poor 😀
Pertinent point here is apathy being worse than anger, and at least with anger you get a crowd antagonising a reaction out of listless Everton teams. Totally feel you on the apathy at times, which for something that can drive some much passion in our lives is just sad really. To better times
