2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Going for him keeping in Keane today, us losing, then Branthwaite back in next week. You've got to be selecting your strongest XI. Keane isn't an Everton player in 7 months time (could argue same could be said for Jarrad, but let's see) and although he's in an acceptable run of form, he's greatly inferior to Branflakes.

Pick your strongest side, not your mates, Sean, ffs.

He’s like one of those toys that can only say 4 things. Push the button, get a stupid catch phrase. Rinse and repeat.

So it's not just Dyche fit now, it is Premier League fit. I mean wtf even is that. The excuses just get better every week.

Hard yards, problems already existed, PL fitness.

Thanks for keeping us up last season and forgive me for really looking forward to the Friedkins getting rid of you.

After prem git they have to get mentally fit , then be “ goodison atmosphere “ fit , this usually takes up the first 30 games of the season … but then we are ready for our relegation run in

The problem isn't with fitness, it's with the fact that most managers now make 5 substitutions in every game, usually starting at the hour mark. This means that half of the outfield players are fresh at the end of the game. This is the way the modern game is now, and if you don't plan to do the same, you will struggle at the end of games no matter how fit your players are.

Agreed , the fact that we are chasing shadows for 60-70% of every match also comes into play

Literally half the teams in the league then which is still quite a lot. We really do need to improve with our use of subs, i think everyone can agree on that.

Well that's a different debate tbf. He got it wrong against Bournemouth for sure, arguably last week also.

As I said in the first post; that was only a small sample size, so numbers might be higher overall for those who have used 5. Then again, they might be lower. What I will say though is; when 5 subs are used, it tends to be that somebody was brought on very late in to the game.

Ultimately I think there's too many variables to draw conclusions just from the numbers. How many were enforced changes for example? In last weeks sample one of the teams that made 5 subs took off one of the players they brought on.

The numbers don't show any context either. They don't show whether a team is chasing the game or seeing it out. A lot can depend on what the options are, and as Pep showed last week by only using 2, if a manager feels the options aren't there, or aren't right, then they won't just make changes for the sake of it.

Imho doing the job despite his clear and obvious limitations. Keeping us up with a threadbare squad of championship level players and a points deduction is commendable and a vindication of his approach: keep it tight at the back, play direct and be good at set pieces.

However powers that be have slowly worked to improve the overall quality of the first team, if not the depth, so his approach should and will come under scrutiny this year. Has to get more out of our more attacking players or it's curtains, and we have to improve on last year's league position (i.e. top half position) or he is in jeopardy.

If we finish top ten and don't look competent doing so, then I think we have to part ways. There is an alternative; we finish top ten and look a threat doing so, in which case I can see another 12 months of Dyche ball.

I for one am sanguine about the whole affair and a realist: whoever precedes him (if we remain a premiership team) will be indebted.

Some people forget the mess he took over, and in some respects still presides over. Could name numerous players still in the squad who aren't worthy of a top tier contract and he continues to get the most out of them, with no signs of mutiny.
Love how the dychette’s have a lots of excuses for every post. But the bit about championship level players who a the biggest load of nonsense I’ve ever heard.
Pickford, Keane, Tarkowski, Coleman, young, myko, Godfrey, gana, Gomes, Onana, DCL. Have basically played all their carers in the top leagues and played international football. Add in prem regulars like Harrison, McNeil,
Doucoure and danjuma who was in tbe champions league team of year 2/3 years ago. It’s pathetic and embarrassing using that as an excuse to make dyche look bettter

Yeah, I agree. Them players are better than Championship level.

My own personal concerns with this squad is that there's not enough pace, and more importantly, not enough goals.

Not everything has to be an extreme view.

Its not just about the quantity though is it, it is also the timing and selection too. His subs have mostly been shocking so far this season. Massive improvement required.
