2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Plenty of them played other PL team during pre season mate. You have to build up your fitness in a gradual managed and controlled way. We just just chose crap teams to try and make us look better and even that back fired because we were still crap and ended up completely unfit and unprepared for the start of PL season.

I think aborad and in commerical touments in places like Asia or the States, no? It was also earlier in Preseason. Id be surprised if they play each other in latter preseason - but happy to be corrected?

Dont dispute that, would be nice, to do a tour of i dont know Spain or Germany, play all the local teams - i think resources and cashflow where at play. I still think we're a few weeks of being trually "match" or "PL" fit myself - as i explained in my earlier posts on sports science and S&C.

Some of the mental gymnastics in here to defend him is starting to make me feel drunk.
No one is defending Dyche.

I don’t even want Dyche as our manager post this season. There is loads to criticise him on as a manager without having to have your head fall over his choice of words in a press conference.

People in this forum can’t get their head around the fact that you hold two opinions at one time. You can accept Dyche’s limitations as a manger and not feel the need to criticise everything he does. People will be moaning about the colour of his socks next.

There were plenty if you look through this list mate - https://www.skysports.com/football/...tours-training-in-usa-asia-australia-and-more

There is no acceptable excuse for not being fit and prepared for the start of the season regardless and you don't have to go on tours to achieve it. Plenty of decent weather here in summer. We had a really poorly organised and managed pre season and paid the price for it when the season started. Most of the team were nowhere near fit enough for even 45 minutes, never mind getting round to 90 and had not even had a single game experience against a team in the same league as them. It was really really poor.

That’s as I said mate, they played each other abroad in commercial tournaments we could afford to be part of in the first mo the of preseason then tappeed off weeks before the season. Thanks for posting! ;)

Ok mate, we have different takes on sports science and S&C as I reference in my earlier posts - I still don’t think we’ve hit peak fitness personally.

As I say I believe resources dictated some of our decisions on preseasons rather then picking form the menu - would in be critical of that sure - ridiculous for a PL club and another peice of evidence of the poor running of the governance of the club, cost cutting the area.

They didn’t last season coming down the stretch mate.

I think he does high loads up to Oct/Nov, then tapers off, hitting peak fitness coming down the straight.

It comes up in o other sports not so much in football, but there is often strategies around when to peak your fitness over a season.

An observation would be we need to use the winter break better this year, go away for warm weather training, Xmas programme last year destroyed us. We got the recovery all wrong.
This is true
He has historically got strong finishes due to fitness in small squads.
The sacrifice is a slow start and essentially throwing points
He definitely thinks in terms of 'over the season' and works fine for a survival club but we will never compete for anything with that methodology.
Serves a purpose but not long term

Alternatively you’ll find people who don’t criticise him at all.

No it isn't. A point was made saying that Dyche had a point about the PL fitness thing and he definitely does not. There is no such thing as PL Fit. You are either match fit or you are not. He has been match fit plenty of times before Benitez nearly killed him, the Ancelotti era being the best because he was fit and also scoring lots of goals.
It is a different point and it's nothing to do with defending Dyche or attacking Dyche. The post you quoted spoke about Dyche being the manager to get DCL playing consistently again. I think it was quite clear to anyone that didn't want to just lump on the Dyche hate train that the poster was referring to post Ancelotti when DCL started to pick up injuries over and over again.

Nothing do do with being a fan of Dyche or not. There is no such as thing as PL fit. It has been created by Dyche as an excuse for why none of this players were 'match' fit even for the first game of the season. They could barely do 45 minutes due to his terrible coaching during pre season so he has created new terms of fitness to dodge and justify it. That is the top and bottom of it. Some of them are still not fully match fit now. Maybe he should have played some PL teams in Pre-Season to try and get them PL match fit before the season started.
There's no such 'thing' as match fit either, it's just a term which is in common usage and we all understand the general concept of, but it doesn't actually mean anything and can't be defined in any set way. Premier League fit is very obviously just the same thing, it's a term Dyche uses to denote being fit enough to play in the premier league, you can't actually quantify it, it's just words. For some reason him saying that and 'on the grass' makes people's heads fall of, which is a bit weird.
