2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

The last three performances have told me this team isn't good enough, personally ive over estimated them. The team isnt good enough to finish sufficient chances they should that are being created for them.

This thread is now a busted flush as far as I'm concerned, changing manager is moving deck chairs around on the titanic.

Root cause wont change.

Remember the season we started with Frank as manager? Posters having meltdowns early doors because of the lack of goals in the squad? I was involved in many a debate at that point. Turns out I was wrong. I argued that the shortage of goals in the team would be negated by us being more of a unit and better defensively, and to be fair to myself, and others, we actually started that season alright, though still short of goals (we actually put in a performance in a derby for a start) and did look like more of a unit for a period.

The goal scoring issues just haven't been solved. I've been banging on about it for weeks, and our goals per game has only gone down in that period.

The season Dyche took over, we finished the season on 34 goals. Our lowest return in christ knows how long. Last season we scored 40. The 21/22 season we scored 43 (though conceded 66 😡 ) and the 20/21 season we scored 47. It's an ongoing issue.

People were massively concerned about this a while back. I still don't think we've solved the issue. It's something we've always struggled with in the Premier League era really -though not always to this degree, granted - because goals and goal scorers are the most expensive commodity in football.

I have said this before, DCL is not a top line goal scorer. He is an adequate centre forward if he gets enough service. We play a brand of football that is without ambition, we play to not get beat. If the score is 0-0 then we aren’t losing so in Sean Dyche’s world view things are fine, we might nick a winner. I don’t think Borja will make any difference, his goals per game to date won’t change much. The lack of goals and therefore the lack of chances to win games worries me a lot this season, we are 16th, we have played 11 games and scored 10 goals in what has been a relatively easy start, we are going to meet the rising ground soon and it is going to get more difficult to get points. I think our only hope is that TFG get control before the transfer window opens and we get Sean Dyche replaced and a couple of better signings in. I really worry that if there isn’t a drastic shift the consequences might be catastrophic.

Takes a touch … then two more steps before trying to get a shot off .. I hate doucoure with every fibre of my being
He's deceptive Doucoure, he's slower than he looks. Seriously though, he looked like he was running in treacle yesterday. He's a very average player, to be kind to him, but his fitness and athletic ability have compensated for that, to a degree, up until this season. I think time has finally caught up with him.

Why do the interviewers/reporters after matches always blow smoke up his arse with false statements like the motd one. Comments like you are looking like good solid Everton with 1 defeat in 7 games.
Break the games down and probably ipswich aside we havent looked solid at all. The loss in there is to the worst side in the league with no wins and pickfords saved us in at least 3 of them.
Its lazy reporting and gives him this reputation that his sides are solid when they're not.
I think they enjoy our suffering that's why!!!

Convinced he'd be happy with 0-0 in every game we play.

There's no 0-0 that he wouldn't be happy with or use to justify his approach.

I've been prepared to give him time based on last two seasons, but had enough this season.

Had perfect chance to start off well with good early fixtures and set the tone for whole season (à la Forest).

Got to be more to supporting us than this wretched experience every week.

I just don’t understand why we have to take entrenched positions and point blank refuse to see the other side of the coin. He’s a bog standard PL manager who plays dull football but we’re a crap team with no money and his remit is pretty obviously just to keep us up. I don’t see what the big drama is to be honest, we all know he’s not the long term answer but making out like every single thing that happens is a sign of his incompetence or whatever is just beyond tiresome.

Has anyone told him that lol. Coz he certainly doesnt think he is.
I mean unless we win at United we'd have done a whole calender year with 1 win away from home.
Thats a bit tiresome.
I didnt think he got the credit he deserved last year. I was posting on this forum praising him to the hilt for the job he did under the circumstances.
I think however he's been awful this season. Theres a few managers around who have changed/adapted their approach and you see the benefits.
I think we're in a bit of trouble because he's so set in his ways. If in a few months we're far enough away from the drop zone i'll hold my hands up.

he is the only manager in this league that has no plan

I mean, that isn’t a great example of the point really. He literally runs about 80 yards faster than everyone else on the pitch, the issue is that he then has to actually touch the football and it’s at that point that it all goes wrong.

Be surprised if he gets another PL job once he leaves here. Think he will have to drop down to the championship.

Love to know our XG for all
The games this season id guess for more than half the games its under 1. It was yesterday Gutted I may have to search this,
Last season dyche told us this in every presser.

When you create very little as a team, fans will start to see a 20 yard blocked shot as a good chance. Were are we in table for big chances created, I’d be amazed if we’re mid table. Having 2/3 decent chances a game is not good enough
I think the term your looking for is Gasdyched mate.

He’s fooled some into thinking we’re solid at the back and also creating chances, when both those things are not at all true.
