2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Remember the season we started with Frank as manager? Posters having meltdowns early doors because of the lack of goals in the squad? I was involved in many a debate at that point. Turns out I was wrong. I argued that the shortage of goals in the team would be negated by us being more of a unit and better defensively, and to be fair to myself, and others, we actually started that season alright, though still short of goals (we actually put in a performance in a derby for a start) and did look like more of a unit for a period.

The goal scoring issues just haven't been solved. I've been banging on about it for weeks, and our goals per game has only gone down in that period.

The season Dyche took over, we finished the season on 34 goals. Our lowest return in christ knows how long. Last season we scored 40. The 21/22 season we scored 43 (though conceded 66 😡 ) and the 20/21 season we scored 47. It's an ongoing issue.

People were massively concerned about this a while back. I still don't think we've solved the issue. It's something we've always struggled with in the Premier League era really -though not always to this degree, granted - because goals and goal scorers are the most expensive commodity in football.

I think a huge disappointment is that we haven’t improved our goal scoring and finishing on last year, with Illy, Lindstrom and reinvention of McNeill I think we have added additional threat and creativity, think we’re creating more chance but it hasn’t finishing. If anything increased creativity has exposed our forwards finishing - DCL has butchered some real chances this year ball at feet.

Thats crystallised for me now - forward unit just won’t score, we’re going to have dog this season out again.

I'm done with Dom mate. It's now 17 goals in his last 78 PL appearances. I've defended him in the past, but I've had it with him now. I don't care if the manager plays to his strengths, it's not all about him. Any 15 goal a season striker would be on more than 2 goals for the season given the chances he's had.

He's not aggressive enough for me either. Beto shows much more desire to get on the end of things.

I don't hate him or anything, I think he's contributed more than lots of others over the years, but at the end of the day, he doesn't get enough goals for us.

Since the start of last season Beto has scored a PL goal every 259 minutes for us. Dom? One PL goal every 343 minutes. Frustratingly, Beto brings other issues.

Convinced he'd be happy with 0-0 in every game we play.

There's no 0-0 that he wouldn't be happy with or use to justify his approach.

I've been prepared to give him time based on last two seasons, but had enough this season.

Had perfect chance to start off well with good early fixtures and set the tone for whole season (à la Forest).

Got to be more to supporting us than this wretched experience every week.

That's a bit my problem. A point away there is something I'd take before the season, but sometimes the oppositions form prior or on the day presents a good chance to get away with something more. Yesterday, was such a occasion.

We tried a bit in the first half, but over the 90 min there was no actual game plan to exploit West Ham's poor start. They didn’t attack us but we didn’t attack them either.

You never know in football, but we missed the occasion on getting points to have a good distance to the relegation zone in December.

Agreed mate, your mistake. ;)
Sorry bud, you’ve been gasdyched.

Now you’re trying to gasdyche everyone else.

Sorry, I’m not buying it.

We ain’t solid at all, we get lucky on turnovers and breakaways, and often have either Pickford or whoever performing miracles and last ditch tackles to prevent goals going in, and at the other end are clueless and disjointed in possession, leaving whatever striker we have playing in their own, isolated, with the so called attackers all told to defend first, and their first thought is to pass backwards.

Theres only Illy who looks a threat and I think that’s because he’s ignoring the ginger skid mark in the dugout and doing what he thinks is best.

Then you’ve got the atrocious game management from our dugout, so even in games when we’re on top or even winning, we manage to bollox it up by leaving players blowing out their arses after chasing shadows for 65 minutes, and the inevitable happens.

Seems even the players are screaming for legs as much as we are, but the manager just scratches his snot into his fod and leaves things to go to cock.

I can agree that some of our players aren’t very good but they are being coached to be worse, and I understand nothing will happen until the takeover hopefully is done, but I’ll be happy once this crap manager is sent packing.

Were the biggest club the fraud will ever get to manage, and he does nothing but talk us down, it’s boring just like his style of football.

Not trying to convince you or anyone mate, people can think what they like, if people think our forwards are crack goal-scorers, well I can live with that.

Wouldn't agree myself and it’s an issue I think we’l have to cope with as the season goes on- but I won’t progress that discussion with people who aren’t there.
