Remember the season we started with Frank as manager? Posters having meltdowns early doors because of the lack of goals in the squad? I was involved in many a debate at that point. Turns out I was wrong. I argued that the shortage of goals in the team would be negated by us being more of a unit and better defensively, and to be fair to myself, and others, we actually started that season alright, though still short of goals (we actually put in a performance in a derby for a start) and did look like more of a unit for a period.
The goal scoring issues just haven't been solved. I've been banging on about it for weeks, and our goals per game has only gone down in that period.
The season Dyche took over, we finished the season on 34 goals. Our lowest return in christ knows how long. Last season we scored 40. The 21/22 season we scored 43 (though conceded 66
) and the 20/21 season we scored 47. It's an ongoing issue.
People were massively concerned about this a while back. I still don't think we've solved the issue. It's something we've always struggled with in the Premier League era really -though not always to this degree, granted - because goals and goal scorers are the most expensive commodity in football.
