2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I agree. 10th - 12th is definitely achievable with this current team if we had a manager with a higher ambition than just staying in the league.
We could just see the the season out and reset in a structured sensible way
I don’t think we’ve got a better squad really. We’ve just shuffled the deck a bit, it’s pretty much the same level overall I’d say. It certainly isn’t substantially better.
This is it 💯

But it has improved. Because having 2 additional wingers (Lindstrom and Ndiaye) is clearly better than having Danjuma, who the manager had no interest in even trying to bed in.

The issue is how they are being used

Neither are wingers.

Also Lindstrom was very low down the list. Probably because he wasnt a winger.

And when you're talking Harrison and Beto - Harrison wouldnt be here if he was free. I reckon you was slating him before we signed him too, but now it's on Dyche. Beto wouldn't be here if he was 0 upfront.

The reality is you take a team thats on its arse, and make profit 3 years on the spin, signing players with 0 upfront options then it's going to continue to be on its arse.

I think it’s pretty convenient to keep saying dyche didn’t want the players we lost, as if the players we replaced them with would have been his first choices. I doubt any neutral looked at the business we did in the summer and thought wow they’ve massively improved, but yeah I get that just saying ‘dycheosaur though’ is more fun than thinking.

He played pretty much every game.

As I said, we got tonked 6-0 to Chelsea - Dyche made a fair few changes after it and we won the next game - Forest, he then kept a winning team and we beat Liverpool and Brentford. We were then safe and the whole world knew we desperately had to make a big sale - and we only had him or Branthwaite to sell.

There's no chance Dyche wanted us to sell Onana for Iroegbunam.
He only played 90 minutes 15 times last year in the league. And no I don’t believe Dyche would have sold him to sign Irogbunam

But he would have for Mangala.

Why?? Because Dyche likes to play with 2 holding midfielders who simply screen the back 4, don’t have to much possession. Onana is the complete opposite of that and likes to get on the ball

I’m not saying there isn’t a coaching issue, I’m simply saying people keep parroting the line that the squad has improved since last season and that is undeniably debatable. If it’s improved it’s marginal, it’s not a clearly better side on paper.

We've been plugging holes in the squad for years. It was always gonna take more than 5 permanent signings over 2 years to fix.

Are you saying Dyche wanted Danjuma mate??

Because that was weird way of showing it

You're making a fair point about the options out wide, because on paper we are stronger there. Unconvinced by Lindstrom so far though, and don't think there's any chance he gets in the team if Dyche had been able to spend some money instead of looking for a loan.

So simply avoiding the fact that:

a) Jack Harrison has never been played in the position that was his most strongest at Leeds, because in doing so it would be mean dislodging players that he loves, regardless of the negative impact they were having on the team

b) Beto has neither developed or a system been found that suits him, and or Dom being on the pitch at the same time

Just push those issues, the basics of a football management and coaching a team, to one side and focus on net spend because that’s an easier option

In all honesty, I’d like the manager to try and find a system that suits the players at his disposal

Rather than being adamant on a system to the detriment of the players

Just did a very quick search mate of your posts the week before Dyche.

See the bold?

I agreed then.

And I still agree now. Even though Richarlison, Gordon and Iwobi would all start for us - we've had to sell them since.

It's not about being gaslit.

It's about recognising the players we have arent good enough.

We're 13-17th and the margins are small.

Last season we over performed an got lucky with injuries.
I disagree that we are that bad, we have failed to win or lost games based on mistakes by players and manager. If you bother to look at games, a lot of them have been winnable. I think we have a side good enough to finish 9th to 12th. DCL being played continually despite being crap, doesn't send right message.

When a manager plays the same tactics, with the same the same approach, treating almost every opponent as superior to us for 18 months, whilst adding 6 new attacking options yet no idea or want to try anything new, then yeah that’s a manager issue more than a player issue
That’s unfair. He’s put McNeil, Doucoure and even the abysmal Harrison behind the striker but hasn’t given a single minute there for Ndiaye or Lindstrom who both excel in that position. He’s a genius
